    Abstract: A precision release agent management system for an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus fuser device. The precision release agent management system includes a reservoir adapted to contain a release agent. A wick absorbs release agent from the reservoir. A metering member receives release agent from the wick, which is supported for resiliently urging into operative contact with the metering member. A blade member is associated with the metering member to establish a desired thickness of release agent on the metering member, and a donor member is adapted to receive release agent from the metering member, and operatively contact the fuser device to apply the release agent thereto. A plurality of features is associated with the reservoir for precise alignment of the donor member, the metering member, and the metering blade.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to improved methods for filling the skin for cosmetic or medical purposes. Compositions comprising carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), polyethylene oxide (PEO) and calcium ions can be made and have physical properties that depend on the amounts and types of CMC, PEO, and calcium ions to form ioniclaly cross-linked gels. Compositions can be formed into microspheres, coascervates, gels, or membranes. Gels, microspheres and coascervates can be injected directly into a site for dermal filling. Membranes can be surgically introduced, where they swell to form hydrated gels. After introduction, the dermal filler persists for a period of time and then can disintegrate and be removed from the body.

    Abstract: The invention provides recombinant procollagen chains having a natural collagen chain separated from one or two propeptide by one or two non-natural site-specific proteolytic agent (e.g., protease) recognition sites. A wide variety of propeptides and site-specific proteolytic agent recognition sites may be used: the selection of particular site-specific proteolytic agent/recognition site pairs is based on the conformation of the resulting procollagen, the availability of the site-specific proteolytic agent, the compatibility of the proteolysis with production of mature collagen, among other factors. Recombinant collagens chains are produced by contacting the subject recombinant procollagen chains with the appropriate site-specific proteolytic agents. Nucleic acids encoding the subject procollagen chains operably linked to transcription regulatory elements are used in vectors and cells for the production of recombinant collagen.

When a new oil impregnated web is installed, the take-up roll is initially driven at an angular velocity to yield the predetermined optimum linear velocity of the oil impregnated web. The angular velocity of the take-up roll is decreased according to the algorithm of the invention so as to maintain constant the linear velocity of the oil impregnated web as the oil impregnated web is wound onto the take-up roll.

    Abstract: A variable torque device for maintaining constant tension in a web of material as the web is unwound from a supply roll. The variable torque device includes a lead screw attached to the shaft of the supply roll via an appropriate gear ratio. A coil spring is located between a hub on the lead screw and a set of rings and friction pads. As the lead screw rotates, the hub translates, thus changing the displacement of the coil spring, which in turn changes the loading of the rings and friction pads. With a full supply roll the coil spring is compressed so as to create an amount of torque to create the desired web tension. As the supply roll unwinds, the rotation of the lead screw translates the hub to expand the coil spring, reducing the torque and maintaining the web tension constant.
