  • Patent number: 10643369
Abstract: Techniques for improving memory utilization for communication between stages of a graphics processing pipeline are disclosed. The techniques include analyzing output instructions of a first shader program to determine whether any such output instructions output some data that is not used by a second shader program. The compiler performs data packing if gaps exist between used output data to reduce memory footprint. The compiler generates optimized output instructions in the first shader program and optimized input instructions in the second shader program to output the used data from the first shader program and input that data in the second shader program in a packed format based on information about usage of output data and data packing. If needed, the compiler inserts instructions to perform runtime checking to identify unused output data of the first shader program based on information not known at compile-time.

  • Patent number: 9126658
Abstract: A gear rescue system is configured to attach to gear in water and to deploy when a deployment water pressure is reached. The gear rescue system includes an upper housing mechanically coupled to a lower housing and an upper cap. A line spool is housed within the upper housing with some line extending through the lower housing and attached to a locking attachment ring. The locking attachment ring is attached to the gear. A blow out plug is detachably coupled to the lower housing and configured to blow out when the deployment water pressure is reached. When he gear pulls the gear rescue system to the deployment water pressure, the blow out plug enters into the lower housing causing the line spool to deploy line enabling the gear rescue system to rise to a surface of the water.

  • Publication number: 20120315089
Abstract: The invention is a system and related method to reduce erosion caused by storm runoff. Eco-friendly erosion reduction assemblies help reduce the effects of both sheet and rill erosion. The assemblies comprise a receptacle housing a perforated water velocity reduction wall embedded in media. The wall may be constructed from recycled tires and the media utilized may be from on-site materials. A series of such assemblies in an erosion zone limits erosion by reducing water velocity.

  • Patent number: 8229343
Abstract: A computer-based test creation system and method for generating test items. The test creation process includes creating items in electronic form and allowing access by a plurality of reviewers via a network. The reviewers may review the item for content, fairness and format, and collaborate with each other before indicating that the item is acceptable for inclusion in a test. After the administration of the items to test takers, item performance may be evaluated on-line by reviewing electronic feedback from the administrations and creating electronic evaluation reports. Since the items are created in an electronic form, the items may further include new forms of stimuli such as graphics and multimedia.

  • Patent number: 7474617
Abstract: Techniques are described for detecting use of a network access node by multiple users to gain access to a network. Packets are received from a network device in communication with the network access node. The packets are evaluated with reference to a plurality of metrics. Each of the metrics is independently representative of an estimated number of user devices from which the packets originate.

  • Publication number: 20080011904
Abstract: This invention is a method and supporting apparatus for autonomously capturing, servicing and de-orbiting a free-flying spacecraft, such as a satellite, using robotics. The capture of the spacecraft includes the steps of optically seeking and ranging the satellite using LIDAR; and matching tumble rates, rendezvousing and berthing with the satellite. Servicing of the spacecraft may be done using supervised autonomy, which is allowing a robot to execute a sequence of instructions without intervention from a remote human-occupied location. These instructions may be packaged at the remote station in a script and uplinked to the robot for execution upon remote command giving authority to proceed. Alternately, the instructions may be generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) logic onboard the robot. In either case, the remote operator maintains the ability to abort an instruction or script at any time, as well as the ability to intervene using manual override to teleoperate the robot.
