  • Publication number: 20140271273
Abstract: A variety of systems, processes, and techniques may provide ocular aspiration. In certain implementations, a handheld ocular aspiration tool may include an electrical motor, a peristaltic pump assembly, a fluid input port, and a fluid output port. The peristaltic pump assembly may include a helically wound compressible conduit and a plurality of variable radius rollers. The rollers may be configured to increasingly occlude the conduit as the rollers are rotated in contact with the conduit, wherein two rollers substantially occlude the conduit at one time to pump fluid through the conduit. The fluid input port may be in fluid communication with an input end of the peristaltic pump assembly, and the fluid output port may be in fluid communication with an output end of the peristaltic pump assembly.

  • Publication number: 20140220377
Abstract: A method of forming a bonded assembly (10). The method comprises: providing at least first and second parts (12, 14) of an assembly (10) to be bonded; assembling the first and second parts (12, 14) in a required relative position to define a bond interface region therebetween; sealing part way along an edge (18) of the bond interface region using laser beam welding to define a cavity between the first and second parts (12, 14); in a vacuum environment, sealing the remainder of the edge (20) of the bond interface region using electron beam welding to form a fluid tight seal around the cavity; and applying heat and pressure to an external surface of the cavity to diffusion bond the first and second parts (12, 14) together.

  • Publication number: 20060209844
Abstract: To allow meter data users to have access to needed information and at the same time address the rapidly shifting requirements of the deregulated marketplace, a new business model, apparatus and system are provided. A common metering device measures raw data and a system composed of independent services or applications collect and process raw metered data and then make that data available to interested parties. This new model removes the dependence upon an automatic meter reading (AMR) system provider, as the sole provider, by creating a system to enable a competitive environment where services (applications, information, networking, etc.) rather than systems are selected and paid for on a leased or pay-per-use basis. One example of such a networked-based, extensible metering system comprises a network server, a wide area network coupled to the network server, and a plurality of network-enabled meters coupled to the network.

  • Publication number: 20060184508
Abstract: A method and system are described for providing context sensitive data to a system user. The method includes the steps of identifying the user and querying databases to create a user context. Information is aggregated from the network databases and filtered using the user context. Providing the correct data needed by the user for that particular time, location and job function.

  • Patent number: 6911191
Abstract: A one-step method for production of green-colored, stabilized wet-process phosphoric acid in which black-colored, wet-process phosphoric acid containing incidental metallic impurities and a carbonaceous content of less than 1000 ppm is oxidized to produce a green-colored liquid having a carbonaceous content less than 500 ppm. A typical green-colored liquid product produced by this one-step process has an emf of greater than 800 mv.

  • Publication number: 20030088198
Abstract: A torso and pelvic stretching apparatus comprising first and second or left and right fulcrums, a bolt, and a retaining device is disclosed. The retaining device holds the left and right fulcrums to the bolt and allows the left and right fulcrums to be removed from the bolt. The left and right fulcrums are adjustable with respect to the bolt so that the torso and pelvic stretching apparatus can be placed in a plurality of configurations. The retaining device may be comprised of a left spacer tube, a left elastic sleeve, a central tube, a right elastic sleeve, a right spacer tube, and left and right end pieces. The left end piece may be fixed to the bolt and the right end piece may be capable of being attached and detached from the bolt. The left and right elastic sleeves may be made of rubber and may be used to hold the left and right fulcrums, in one embodiment, to the bolt.

  • Patent number: 5263849
Abstract: A burner and burner firing method and system for a furnace combustion chamber in which a burner, having an ignition chamber for discharging an ignited combustible mixture of primary air and fuel into the furnace combustion chamber, and a plurality of nozzle ports for directing a high velocity stream of secondary air into the furnace combustion chamber in a direction generally parallel to the direction of flow from said ignition chamber, is operated in a first mode at furnace combustion chamber temperatures up to a transitional temperature by accelerating a burning mixture of fuel and air to moderately high velocities into the furnace combustion chamber, and in a second mode at furnace combustion temperatures above said transitional temperature by introducing a relatively low velocity stream of fuel mixed with a minor amount of air needed for stoichiometric combustion and accelerating a separate stream of air to high velocities into the furnace combustion chamber for mixture with said low velocity stream downs

  • Patent number: 4323300
Abstract: It is important that in an optical fibre connector the ends of the fibres should contact or very nearly contact to avoid excessive optical losses. They must be accurately aligned and lateral movements, causing varying optical output, be minimized. In this invention, the fibre or fibres are secured in grooves formed in flat surfaces in two abutting blocks and the blocks are clamped together with their flat surfaces in contact with a further flat surfaced member. The clamp consists of a cam surface formed in a housing which is adapted to contact a portion of the further member when the blocks are introduced into the housing.

  • Patent number: 4008057
Abstract: Electrically-activated shaking devices are arranged in modules to shake the electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator, each module corresponding to a different section of the precipitator. An operating system for the shaking devices includes a main distributor circuit that sends electrical signals to individual control circuits at each of the modules in sequence and at a relatively fast rate. Each control circuit has an adjustable timer that independently generates pulses at a relatively slow rate and a synchronizing circuit that generates an output signal only if it receives a signal from the timer followed by a signal from the main distributor. Each control circuit further includes a secondary distributor circuit that operates in response to the synchronizing circuit to activate the shaking devices in the associated module sequentially. An inhibit device operated by the synchronizing circuit prevents more than a single shaker from being activated at a time.
