Patent number: 12220620Abstract: A golf club head that is capable improving on the inertia properties of a golf club head all while also improving the Center of Gravity (CG) location is disclosed herein. More specifically, the golf club head in accordance with the present invention achieves a relative low Moment of Inertia (MOI) about the Z-axis (MOI-Z) as well as a relatively low MOI about the Shaft-axis (MOI-SA), all combined with a high MOI about the X and Y-axis (MOI-X and MOI-Y) and maintaining a consistently and relatively low CG location measured along a direction tangent to the hosel axis along the X-Y plane (CG-B).Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2022Date of Patent: February 11, 2025Assignee: Acushnet CompanyInventors: Ryuichi Sugimae, Charles E. Patent number: 12085413Abstract: A measurement apparatus for mounting within an enclosure of a machine is described. The apparatus includes a measurement device and a protection means for protecting the measurement device from contaminants present within the machine enclosure. The protection means is switchable between at least a first mode that protects the measurement device from contaminants and a second mode that provides less protection of the measurement device from contaminants than the first mode. A contaminant sensor is used for sensing contamination within the machine enclosure and thereby determining when the protection means can adopt the second mode. A corresponding method is also described.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2020Date of Patent: September 10, 2024Assignee: RENISHAW PLCInventors: Benjamin Jason Merrifield, Graham Richard Ferguson

Patent number: 12048977Abstract: An optical tool measurement device for a machine tool is described. The device includes a light source for directing light towards a tool-sensing region and a sensor for detecting light from the tool-sensing region. A shutter assembly for selectively protecting the sensor from contamination is also provided. The shutter assembly is to provide a closed configuration in which the sensor is covered by the shutter assembly thereby preventing contamination of the sensor and an open configuration in which light can pass to the sensor through a first aperture of the shutter assembly. Furthermore, the shutter assembly is configured to additionally provide a constricted configuration in which light can pass to the sensor through a second aperture of the shutter assembly, the second aperture being smaller than the first aperture. In this manner, the device has enhanced resistance to contaminants, such as swarf and coolant, present in the machine tool environment.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2020Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: RENISHAW PLCInventors: Graham Richard Ferguson, Stephen Lindsey Tocknell

Patent number: 11904426Abstract: A non-contact tool measurement apparatus is used in a machine tool environment. The apparatus includes a transmitter including a first aperture and a laser for generating light that is emitted from the transmitter through the first aperture towards a tool-sensing region. A receiver includes an optical detector and is arranged to receive light from the tool-sensing region. A processor analyses the light detected by the optical detector to enable the measurement of tools in the tool-sensing region. The laser is capable of generating light having a wavelength of less than 590 nm thereby enabling the size of the first aperture to be reduced resulting in a reduction in contaminant ingress. In one embodiment, the laser generates blue light.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2022Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: RENISHAW PLCInventors: Julian Alexander Cluff, Graham Richard Ferguson, Harry Alan Leafe, William Ernest Lee

Patent number: 11655815Abstract: A semi-rigid stator is provided for a helical gear device. The stator includes a stack of rigid rings, a deformable layer, and a rigid housing. Each of the rigid rings has a central opening and an exterior surface. The rigid rings are aligned along a common centerline and rotated slightly relative to each other such that the stack of rigid rings forms a helically convoluted chamber. Each of the rigid rings is secured within the rigid stator housing by the deformable layer disposed between the exterior surface of each of the rigid rings and the rigid housing. The deformable layer bonds the rigid rings together as the ring stack and permits movement of the rigid rings relative to each other.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2020Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: ROPER PUMP COMPANY, LLCInventors: Trevor Mark Brasselle, Brian Lee Gerdes, Gregory Richard Ferguson, Cody Richard Reynolds

Patent number: 10835043Abstract: A support for a piece of modular furniture, and a piece of modular furniture which includes the support. The support includes first and second legs connected by a longitudinal member and a support member. The support member extends generally transversely to the longitudinal member in a direction allowing it to extend under a seat and support the seat. The piece of furniture preferably includes two or more such supports, each having a support member which extends towards the other support, so that they together may support the seat. The supports are generally universal in design, in that a single type of support may be used to make many different types of furniture, such as a chair, a sofa, an end table and a full table. Chairs and sofas may include backs, and therefore the supports used with such types of furniture include extensions which support the back.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2018Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: Saw and Sew Ltd.Inventor: James Winston Richard Ferguson
