  • Publication number: 20090189130
Abstract: A modular vehicle ramp system is provided for elevating all four wheels of a vehicle off of the ground to allow a user easy access beneath the elevated vehicle. The components are modular allowing the ramp system to be employed in several different reconfigurable arrangements. A first embodiment provides one wheel support and one ramp that releasably engages with the wheel support. In another embodiment, at least two wheel supports are employed with two corresponding ramps releasably engaged therewith. Finally in another embodiment, two bridge sections extend between two wheel supports positioned at the front and two wheel supports positioned at the rear. Two ramps are releasably engaged with either the two forward or rear wheel supports such that a car can be driven up the ramps and over the bridge sections such that the four vehicle wheels are supported on the four wheel supports.

  • Publication number: 20080148578
Abstract: The present invention provides a blade, referred to herein as the “Hollow Flat blade.” The Hollow Flat blade would make sharpening easier, by eliminating the problem of correctly holding the blade to match the angle of the sharp-edge bevel during the sharpening process. In an exemplary Hollow Flat blade embodiment of the present invention, the blade is a fixed blade. As depicted in FIG. 30a, in this Hollow Flat blade embodiment, a spacing detent 32 would be provided on the hollow ground side of the blade at the end opposing the sharp edge 11 of the blade 1. The spacing detent 32 would be equal in height to the raised flat bevel 10-1 relative to the concave side 13-2?. As further depicted, the spacing detent 32 would be even with the height of the small raised flat bevel 10-1 relative to line 34-34 as the raised flat bevel.

  • Publication number: 20080053178
Abstract: A computer controlled roll-forming apparatus is adapted to provide a repeating pattern of different longitudinal shapes to a continuous beam “on the fly” during the roll-forming process. A sweep station on the apparatus includes a primary bending roller tangentially engaging the continuous beam along the line level and an armature for biasing the continuous beam against the primary bending roller for a distance partially around a downstream side of the primary bending roller to form a sweep. Further, actuators adjustably move the armature at least partially around the downstream side of the primary bending roller between at least first and second positions for imparting multiple different longitudinal shapes into the continuous beam. In one form, the apparatus also includes a coordinated cut-off, so that when separated into bumper beam segments, the ends of the individual beam segments have a greater sweep than their center sections.

Actuators adjustably move the armature partially around the downstream side of the primary bending roller between multiple positions for imparting a series of different longitudinal shapes. Internal and external mandrels control wall stability to allow even sharper sweeps. In one form, the apparatus also includes a coordinated cut-off, so that when separated into bumper beam segments, the ends of the individual beam segments have a greater sweep than their center sections.

  • Patent number: 5075809
Abstract: A magnetic head affixed to the underside of a carrier body mounted at the periphery of a head-wheel for scanning oblique tracks on a magnetic tape is provided with shielding of ferrite, mu-metal or amorphous iron, to reduce magnetic crosstalk. The shielding surrounds the part of the magnetic head that projects beyond the head carrier body except for a small portion near the polished surface that needs to be left uncovered to avoid interfering aerodynamically with the contact of the magnetic head with a magnetic tape. One piece of the shielding is of rectilinear shallow U-shaped profile, forming a pocket for the magnetic head below the carrier body and extends beyond the tip of the carrier body, where the second piece of shielding material completes an annular shielding ring around the end of the magnetic head. This shielding is particularly useful for an after-check playback head used during recording to check on the quality of the recorded signals.

  • Patent number: 5036418
Abstract: To improve the crosstalk behavior of a multi-channel magnetic tape recorder with a rotating head wheel, whose magnetic heads receive signals through a rotating transformer, the leads between the magnetic heads and the corresponding transformer windings are shielded from one another. Advantageously, this shielding is made of small tubes of an efficiently electroconductive metal which, in another embodiment, can be securely connected electrically and mechanically with the rotational axis. For further improvement of the crosstalk characteristics, the shielding can also be connected in an electrically conducting fashion with the short-circuit rings located between the individual transformers.

  • Patent number: 4816950
Abstract: A strip of easily magnetizable material of low remanence, having magnetic properties equal to or better than those of the core of the magnetic heads on a revolving headwheel of a video tape machine is provided as a magnetic shunt for each head, disposed in the neighborhood of the core gap, but spaced therefrom at a distance much greater than the gap width, for reducing the spread of stray flux when the head is used for recording and intercepting stray flux from other heads when the head is in the playback mode. Among the many ways in which the shunt can be provided are individual bridge strip mounted on the headwheel to bridge over each head laterally, a horseshoe-shaped strip covering the annular gap in which the headwheel revolves for the portions of that gap over which the tape passes, but spaced away from the tape, and strips mounted on the stationary guide drums or embedded in the headwheel periphery.

  • Patent number: 4525840
Abstract: In the reproduction of digitally encoded signals, especially the time-compressed sound signals recorded along with video signals, the signals are recorded in segments interposed between sync words which are not all the same but which form a cyclical sequence. In reproduction, two or more data segments and their associated sync words are temporarily stored and correctly picked-up sync words are recognized, but when a sync word is missed, the starting address of the missing sync word is established with reference to a preceding correctly picked-up sync word by a calculating operation, whereby word synchronism is maintained for the data following the missed sync word.

  • Patent number: 4497005
Abstract: Individual adjustability of multiple transducer heads (2, 4) with respect to each other is provided by mounting the transducer heads on a plate-like support (1) of non-metallic resilient material, such as bronze or brass, and cutting a slit (4) between the transducer heads. By passing screws 11, 12 through the strips behind the transducer heads, the strips can be bent, for example by bending about a hinge crease 13, and thereby adjust the relative height position of the transducer heads 2, 3, with respect to each other, and thus the tracking position of the transducer heads with respect to multiple tracks on a magnetic tape. The arrangement is particularly suitable for mounting on a support plate 20 of a head wheel of a rotating transducer head for use in video recording.

  • Patent number: 4473850
Abstract: Digitalized audio signals of a plurality of channels are stored blockwise in each channel and then recorded blockwise in repeating channel sequence in similarly situated portions of successive oblique tracks in which are also recorded concurrent video signals, but the recording of a channel block is skipped once per picture field, so that an integral number of channel sequences will record all the audio channel information for a period equal to a picture field. In the video track where audio recording is skipped, other information may be recorded. The read-out rate of the channel blocks is slightly accelerated so that the track skipping loses no information. Consequently, the recorded signals can be cut in, or cut off, or edited at any frame end without loss of registry of the audio channels.

  • Patent number: 4353098
Abstract: The video and audio information is recorded along at least one track of the tape, which track, in the preferred embodiment of the invention, consists of discontinuous track segments oblique to the longitudinal axis of the tape, with portions of audio information alternating with portions of video information. At least the audio information is recorded in time compressed form.
