Abstract: A waste funnel system for pouring liquids into a container. The waste funnel system has an adapter with a closure that can be mounted to an opening of the container. A funnel body has a cover that is pivotally connected to the funnel body and is used to open and close an inlet end of the funnel. The funnel body is also assembled in the adapter, thereby permitting different size funnel bodies to be assembled with the same container closure. A ventilation path extends between the funnel body and the adapter to permit vapors to be displaced from an interior of the container. In addition, a screen disposed in a liquid path between inlet and outlet ends of the funnel body prevents objects from passing through the funnel system.

Abstract: A filtering unit including an upper container for receiving fluid to be filtered, a lower container for receiving the fluid from the upper container and an intermediate filter cassette. The filter cassette includes a support member connected with a flat filter member, such as a membrane filter, and can be removed with respect to each of the upper and lower containers. The filter cassette may be inserted within the upper container with sealing engagement between the support member and the internal wall of the upper container. The various disclosed embodiments include the ability to serially connect multiple filter cassettes generally between the liquid contained in the upper container and the lower container.

Abstract: A container, cartridge and method for holding, dispensing and mixing a fluid material comprised of at least two component fluids in an aseptic manner. A cartridge includes a cartridge body for holding one component fluid and having first and second ends. A seal is affixed to the first end of the cartridge body and a movable portion is sealed to the second end of the cartridge body. A movable member is fully disposed within the cartridge body and aseptically sealed between the first and second ends. The movable member may be moved in response to movement of the movable portion at the second end such that the movable member breaks the seal and the fluid material is thereby dispensed from the first end. This allows a fluid component, such as a concentrate, to be readily mixed with another fluid, such as water, under aseptic conditions and immediately contained within an aseptic environment of the container.

Abstract: A dispensing container including a receptacle portion for holding liquids and an upper opening having a closure device. The closure device is embodied in threaded cap which closes a relatively large opening in the top of the receptacle portion for filling purposes. The closure device includes a spout connected to the threaded cap for sliding movement between open and closed positions. The spout includes a plug member having a resilient static sealing element. A tubular closure element is secured to the threaded cap and includes a plug bore which receives the plug member and further defines a fluid flow path. A resilient dynamic sealing element is disposed on an outer surface of the tubular closure element and the dynamic sealing element is in continuous contact with an inner surface of the spout during sliding movement thereof.

Abstract: The present invention is a dropper bottle assembly (30) with a dispensing closure (34) having a base (48) adapted to be secured to the bottle 32) and an elongated dropper spout (64) extending from the base (48) to a distal open end (72) and with a separate cap (36, 236) defining a cavity (76) sized to receive the spout (64) therein wherein the cap (36, 236) and closure (34) share cooperating hinge (80, 84) and lock structures (130, 132, 264) for pivotably mounting the cap (36, 236) about a fixed axis and locking the cap (36, 236) closed with the spout opening (72) closed off. The lock (130) and hinge (84) structure are formed on the spout (64) below the opening (72) thereof but spaced from the closure base (48).

Abstract: A dropper bottle assembly with a dispensing closure having a base adapted to be secured to the bottle and an elongated dropper spout extending from the base to a distal open end and with a separate cap defining a cavity sized to receive the spout therein wherein the cap and closure share cooperating hinge and lock structures for pivotably mounting the cap about a fixed axis and locking the cap closed with the spout opening closed off. The lock and hinge structure are formed on the spout below the opening thereof but spaced from the closure base. The lock mechanism includes cooperating teeth and an index finger or a cooperating spring-arm and a grip bar. The spout is sealed by a surface of the cap or a compliant mat on that surface, the latter being held in place by a rib within the cap.

Abstract: A rack and retainer for use with an existing rack for holding test tubes and similar like articles. The rack or retainer is provided with a projecting member for firmly holding in position a test tube or similar like article placed therein.

Abstract: A plastic container for hoding an array of vials or other like articles. The container has a base potion and a top cover for placement thereon. The base portion is provided a divider defining a plurality of openings for receiving and maintaining in position a plurality of vials or other like artivles. The divider is provided with indica for identifying the position of the vials.

Abstract: A container and cap assembly comprising a receiving container and a cap for engagement therewith. Engagement means is provided for quick assembly or disassembly of the cap from the container which comprises at least two recesses in the cylindrical outer wall of the lower end of the cap for receiving corresponding locking pins on the cylindrical wall of the container. The recesses each comprise a first receiving portion and a locking portion. The locking pins each have a substantially elongated outer configuration with respect to longitudinal axis of the container.

Abstract: A filter assembly having a filter chamber. Filter means is disposed in the filter chamber which comprises at least one disc shaped filter assembly. The disc assembly has an upper support disc and a lower aligning support disc. A filter membrane is disposed on the top side of the support disc which has a plurality of primary grooves for receiving a liquid filter through the filter membrane. The aligning support disc fits substantially centrally on the bottom surface of the support disc and is provided with radially extending ribs which form radially extending grooves between. A second filter membrane is placed on the bottom surface of the support disc and overlaps a portion of the aligning disc. The bottom surface of the support disc is also provided with grooves for collection of a filtrate. Axial extending grooves are provided in the support disc for connecting the collection on the top surface with the bottom surface.

Abstract: A pressure filter assembly having a bleed valve assembly for releasing trapped gas from with the filter chamber in a controlled manner. The bleed valve assembly includes a stem secured to the filter assembly having a bore therethrough for communication with the filter chamber and a cap for controlling the release of trapped gas within the filter chamber. The cap has a plunger with a contact surface which mates with a portion of the inside surface of the stem bore and an extension which fits with a narrow portion of the bore.

Abstract: A storage rack for holding a plurality of substantially box-like containers. The rack is provided with a plurality of independent locking members, one associated with a single box-like container. The locking member may be rotated in and out of a locking position.

Abstract: A plastic filter assembly having an upper receiving container and a lower receiving container. Either the top or bottom container is provided with at least two recesses for receiving a locking pin in the container not having recesses. The recess has a first receiving portion and a locking portion. The locking pin has an angled engaging surface inclined with respect to longitudinal axis of the container.

Abstract: A reusable laboratory filter unit having a recoverable filter member. The unit has an upper body or reservoir for receiving the liquid to be filtered and a lower body or receptacle for receiving filtrate. A plate for supporting the filter membrane is captured between the upper and lower bodies when the bodies are joined together. A threaded ring arrangement draws the bodies together axially without rotating one with respect to the other so the membrane is not subjected to any twisting force. Separation of the bodies exposes the support plate so it can be easily removed to recover the membrane.
