Abstract: Disclosed is a welding-type power source that includes a first wire feeder provides a wire to a workpiece. A first wire feeder motor of the wire feeder to move the wire from a wire storage device to the workpiece. A second wire feeder motor moves the wire to and away from the workpiece and superimposes movement of the wire onto the movement from the first wire feeder motor. A moveable buffer located between the first and second wire feeder motors, and configured to accommodate a change in length of the wire between the first and second wire feeder motors when the second wire feeder motor moves the wire away from the workpiece. A sensor senses movement or displacement of the moveable buffer, wherein a speed or direction of the first or second wire feeder motors is adjusted based on data from the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20190317546
Abstract: A power regulator provides current to a processing unit. A clock distribution network provides a clock signal to the processing unit. A level-based droop detector monitors a voltage of the current provided to the processing unit and provides a droop detection signal to the clock distribution network in response to the voltage falling below a first threshold voltage. The clock distribution network decreases a frequency of a clock signal provided to the processing unit in response to receiving the droop detection signal. The level-based droop detector interrupts the droop detection signal that is provided to the clock distribution network in response to the voltage rising above a second threshold voltage. The clock distribution network increases the frequency of the clock signal provided to the processing unit in response to interruption of the droop detection signal.

  • Patent number: 10431077
Abstract: This application relates to apparatus and methods for traffic monitoring, especially for monitoring of road traffic flow using fiber optic distributed acoustic sensing. The method involves performing distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) using a suitable interrogator unit (103) to provide a measurement signal from each of a plurality of sensing portions of a first length of a sensing optical fiber (102), where the first length of the sensing optical fiber runs alongside a road (101) having a plurality of lanes. The measurement signals from the sensing portions are processed to detect vehicles (104) travelling on the road and to determine at least one detected traffic flow property. The method further involves using a traffic flow model to relate the detected flow property to a modelled flow property, where the traffic flow model is configured to model vehicle detections that will be missed by the distributed acoustic sensing i.e. an indication of vehicles present on the road but not detected by the DAS sensor.

  • Patent number: 10366027
Abstract: A method for steering data for an I/O write operation includes, in response to receiving the I/O write operation, identifying, at an interconnect fabric, a cache of one of a plurality of compute complexes as a target cache for steering the data based on at least one of: a software-provided steering indicator, a steering configuration implemented at boot initialization, and coherency information for a cacheline associated with the data. The method further includes directing, via the interconnect fabric, the identified target cache to cache the data from the I/O write operation. The data is temporarily buffered at the interconnect fabric, and if the target cache attempts to fetch the data while the data is still buffered at the interconnect fabric, the interconnect fabric provides a copy of the buffered data in response to the fetch operation instead of initiating a memory access operation to obtain the data from memory.

  • Patent number: 10339063
Abstract: A processor includes an operations scheduler to schedule execution of operations at, for example, a set of execution units or a cache of the processor. The operations scheduler periodically adds sets of operations to a tracking array, and further identifies when an operation in the tracked set is blocked from execution scheduling in response to, for example, identifying that the operation is dependent on another operation that has not completed execution. The processor further includes a counter that is adjusted each time an operation in the tracking array is blocked from execution, and is reset each time an operation in the tracking array is executed. When the value of the counter exceeds a threshold, the operations scheduler prioritizes the remaining tracked operations for execution scheduling.

  • Publication number: 20190179777
Abstract: A processor applies offset values to read and write pointers to a first-in-first-out buffer (FIFO) for data being transferred between clock domains. The pointer offsets are based on a frequency ratio between the clock domains, and reduce latency while ensuring that data is not read by the receiving clock domain from an entry of the FIFO until after the data has been written to the entry, thereby reducing data transfer errors. The processor resets the pointer offset values in response to a change in clock frequency at one or both of the clock domains, allowing the processor to continue to accurately transfer data in response to clock frequency changes.
