  • Publication number: 20050130606
Abstract: A smart external antenna module is proposed for wireless systems. The module allows the advantages of smart antennas to be easily added to existing wireless systems without any modification to the transceiver. Specifically, the smart antenna module weights and combines the signals received by multiple antennas to improve the received signal quality, and then when it detects that there is a signal to be transmitted by the transceiver, it turns off the receiver, turns on the transmitter and uses the receive weights to transmit the signal out of the multiple antennas to improve signal reception at the desired user. Such a module can be added to the external antenna port of an existing transceiver with no change to that transceiver.

  • Publication number: 20050108359
Abstract: In a method for reducing notifications associated with incoming emails destined to a user using a wireless device, after receiving an incoming email, a relay server checks whether there is undelivered email destined to the user. If there is no undelivered email, then a notification is sent to the user's wireless device. If there are undelivered emails, then the relay server calculates a lapse time since the last notification was sent to the user. If the lapse time is greater than a predefined period, a notification is sent to the user.

  • Publication number: 20050096004
Abstract: A highly integrated GPS RF Front End which uses a single conversion stage employs an image rejection mixer stage to eliminate the need for an image reject RF bandpass filter. Also a relatively high sample rate A/D is employed which allows a timeless monolitic IF Filter to be used. The disclosure also discusses a GPS Front End topology that is easily integrated from industry standard building blocks. With the broad variation in potential receiver designs, the present invention includes some specific receiver topologies that lend themselves to a high level of integration. The specific designs presented here are comprised of industry standard building blocks and functions that have been described elsewhere in the related art.

  • Publication number: 20050096453
Abstract: A polyester resin composition is calendered to produce a film or a sheet. The polyester resin composition is a polyester having a crystallization half time from a molten state of at least 5 minutes combined with an additive for preventing sticking of the polyester to calendering rolls.

  • Patent number: 6822954
Abstract: A gateway has a stack with a bearer adaptation layer and an HTTP client. The gateway may be connected by an HTTP link to an origin server and by a bearer interface to a mobile network. It may also be connected by an HTTP link to a WTA server. A context manager is a user on the stack and supports interfaces to allow access to external entities in a versatile manner. An event manager captures events including billing events and writes to an event log and to a billing log. A management entity provides overall control and sets configurations for the event manager.

  • Publication number: 20030074313
Abstract: A gateway routes signals between a WAP mobile phone and an application on a Web server. The application generates a message for each of a number of events recognized according to the service being provided. These messages are transmitted to the gateway. A billing manager in the gateway directs the messages in real time to a real time mediation device if they relate to a pre-pay service, or alternatively to a billing log for off-line processing. The network operator operating the gateway can thus charge in a manner relating to services provided instead of simply call duration.

  • Publication number: 20020015403
Abstract: A gateway (1) has a stack (20) with a bearer adaptation layer (21) and an HTTP client (29). The gateway may be connected by an HTTP link to an origin server (10) and by a bearer interface to a mobile network (3). It may also be connected by an HTTP link to a WTA server (5). A context manager (25) is a user on the stack (20) and supports interfaces (26 to 30) to allow access to external entities in a versatile manner. An event manager (35) captures events including billing events and writes to an event log (36) and to a billing log (37). A management entity (40) provides overall control and sets configurations for the event manager (35).
