Publication number: 20250118393Abstract: Methods and systems data down-sampling are disclosed. A method includes selecting data samples from a first set of data samples, each associated with a sampling date, that meet at least one quality control criterion to generate a second set of data samples, and down-sampling the second set of data samples into a plurality of subsets of data samples. Each subset of the plurality of subsets of data samples contains a data sample predetermined quantity and is associated with a different time period. Down-sampling includes generating, based on the sampling date, a sampling date distribution for the second set of data samples, and selecting, for each time period of the plurality of sequential time periods, based on the sampling date distribution, data samples from the second set of data samples until each subset of the plurality of subsets of data samples contains the predetermined quantity of data samples.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2024Publication date: April 10, 2025Inventors: Kaitlyn Gayvert, Sheldon McKay, Wei Keat Lim, Richard Copin, Gurinder S. Atwal

Publication number: 20250081293Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring temperature using wireless, flexible thermal sensors are disclosed. A wireless, flexible thermal sensor mountable on a body may comprise a substrate, a power source, a thermal actuator configured to receive power from a power source and supply thermal energy to a portion of a skin surface of the body, a temperature sensor configured to detect a change in a temperature related to the thermal actuator, and a comparator configured to receive an electrical signal corresponding to the temperature of the temperature sensor, compare the received signal to a reference signal, and output a signal based on the comparison. The sensor may further comprise a power control element configured to receive a signal corresponding to the output signal of the comparator and alter the delivery of power to the thermal actuator based at least in part on the signal received from the comparator.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2022Publication date: March 6, 2025Inventors: Richard Chad WEBB, Adam ZYSK, Shannon MCKAY, Blake PARSONS, Scott ODLAND

Publication number: 20150323452Abstract: A method of determining material properties for an object under test is disclosed. The method comprises determining a thickness at a point on the object under test in a non-invasive manner. It also comprises obtaining a terahertz measurement by passing terahertz radiation through the object under test using a terahertz emitter and detecting the terahertz radiation using a terahertz detector. Finally, it comprises determining an optical property at the point on the object under test using a measurement value from the terahertz emitter and the terahertz detector and a measured value for the thickness at the point.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2014Publication date: November 12, 2015Inventors: Edward King, David Heaps, Mark Sullivan, Richard McKay, Eiji Kato

Patent number: 4104018Abstract: A combuster is provided for utilizing a combustible mixture containing fuel and air, to heat a load fluid such as water or air, in a manner that minimizes the formation of nitrogen oxide. The combustible mixture passes through a small diameter tube where the mixture is heated to its combustion temperature, while the load fluid flows past the outside of the tube to receive heat. The tube is of a diameter small enough that the combustible mixture cannot form a flame, and yet is not subject to wall quench, so that combustion occurs, but at a temperature less than under free flame conditions. Most of the heat required for heating the combustible mixture to its combustion temperature, is obtained from heat flow through the walls of the pipe to the mixture.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1976Date of Patent: August 1, 1978Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationInventor: Richard A.
