  • Patent number: 6616118
Abstract: A piston assembly for use in a flush valve. The piston assembly is movable in the body toward and away from the valve seat to control flow from the inlet through the outlet. There is a relief valve in the piston assembly for venting a flush valve pressure chamber to the flush valve outlet. The piston assembly has an outwardly directed lip seal which bears against an interior wall of the body, with the lip seal being held between facing elements of the piston assembly. The lip seal includes an insert and an elastomer overlying and substantially enclosing the insert. Both the elastomer and the insert have portions extending toward the flush valve body wall and the insert has support elements which are in contact with the facing elements of the piston assembly to take the load from such elements off of the elastomer body of the lip seal.

There is a piston assembly movable in the body toward and away from the valve seat to control flow from the inlet through the outlet. A pressure chamber is formed in the body above the piston assembly, at least in part by a cover attached to the body. Pressure in the pressure chamber normally maintains the piston assembly closed upon the valve seat. There is a relief valve in the piston assembly for venting the pressure chamber to the outlet, permitting the piston assembly to move away from the valve seat to open flow through the outlet. There is an adjustment assembly located in the flush valve cover which permits adjustment of piston assembly stroke. The adjustment assembly includes a housing mounted in the cover, a sleeve axially movable in the housing, and an adjustment element for causing movement of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5586573
Abstract: A faucet and sensor mounting includes a faucet spout and an elastomeric filler ring having a central opening stretchable to pass over the faucet spout to provide for positioning the filler ring on a sink deck and about a previously installed spout. There is a trim plate which has a faucet spout opening of a size to pass over the faucet spout to provide for positioning the trim plate in place on a previously installed faucet spout. The trim plate faucet spout opening is of a size to cover a portion of the filler ring with an interior portion of the filler ring extending closely about the faucet spout and outwardly through the trim plate faucet spout opening. There is a sensor opening in the trim plate spaced from the faucet spout opening and a sensor is positioned in the sensor opening. There is an anti-rotation pin opening adjacent the sensor opening and an anti-rotation pin positioned in the opening and extending into the sensor to prevent rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 5549487
Abstract: A splashproof enclosure for use in mounting the electrical control circuits for connecting electric power to a sensor operated electric actuator for a toilet room plumbing device such as an electronic faucet includes a base and a cover mounted on the base. The base is formed and adapted to mount on a toilet room wall and has a power cord opening so that a power cord may enter said enclosure from the rear. There are spacing channels on the side of the base facing the toilet room wall to space the base from the wall to allow fluid to flow behind the enclosure. There is a dam positioned on the upper side of the power cord opening and extending toward the toilet room wall to divert fluid around the power cord opening. The cover is attached to the base and there are seal elements between the cover and base preventing the entry of fluid into the interior of the enclosure. There are cable entrance ports in the cover and the base providing a plurality of openings for cables for the sensor and electric actuators.

  • Patent number: 5548119
Abstract: A sensor assembly for use in a toilet room for detecting the adjacent presence of the user of a toilet room device has a body with a hollow threaded mounting shank extending outwardly therefrom. The body has a platform and there is an upwardly extending wall on the platform which defines a chamber. An infrared transmitter and an adjacent infrared receiver are positioned within the chamber on a P.C. board. There is an electrical cable attached to the mounting board and which extends through the threaded shank. A shroud extends about the transmitter and receiver and has a pair of adjacent openings in alignment with the transmitter and receiver. The wall has an infrared transparent window in alignment with the transmitter and receiver openings in the shroud. A cap extends over the wall, chamber and window and is seated upon the platform.

  • Patent number: 5195720
Abstract: A flush valve includes a body having a water inlet and a water outlet. There is an inner cover mounted on the body and with portions of the flush valve defines a chamber which is in communication with the flush valve inlet. A sensor for detecting the presence of an object adjacent the flush valve is mounted on the inner cover, as is an electrical circuit for causing operation of the flush valve. There is an outer cover which encloses the inner cover, sensor, and electrical circuit. The outer cover is formed of a plastic which will transmit radiation from the sensor whereby the sensor can detect the presence of an object adjacent the flush valve. The inner and outer cover have interfitting lugs which restrict relative rotation therebetween and provide a means for attaching the covers to the flush valve body through the use of a ring which applies a load only to the inner cover.
