  • Patent number: 4492970
Abstract: The printer disclosed converts electronic information into human readable information by an imaging device comprising a laser diode which is a source of coherent monochromatic radiation requiring very low power to expose a sensitized sheet. The radiation from the laser diode may scan a focal plane on which the radiation is focused by an objective lens and compounded curved mirror such as a parabolic mirror. The medium for the image is a zinc oxide sensitized sheet.

  • Patent number: 4410842
Abstract: A battery powered electric vehicle d.c. motor control includes a first potentiometer actuable by an accelerator pedal and a second potentiometer actuable by a brake pedal. The motor current is controlled in accordance with the signals at the sliders of these potentiometers and contactors determine the connection mode of the motor under the control of a comparator which is sensitive to the signal at the slider of the first potentiometer only. This causes braking mode to be selected except when the accelerator pedal is depressed. A resistor is connected in series with the second potentiometer to ensure that a minimum braking demand signal is always present, but means is provided for cancelling this minimum braking demand signal in certain vehicle operating conditions and further means is connected to the comparator for overridingly selecting motoring mode in these conditions.

  • Patent number: 4194827
Abstract: A unitary optical element as provided together with a tubular light source and housing therearound to form an integrated optical assembly suitable for illuminating a line of a graphic original traversed across one surface of the assembly, such that an image of the illuminated line is formed on a photoreceptive surface traversed across another surface of the assembly. The optical element includes a linear array of optical fibers for conveying light reflected from the original onto the receptor surface, which fibers are optically coupled and integrally bonded to a light collection member such that light from the tubular source is directed onto the collection member and over into the sides of the fibers to emerge through the fiber end, thus directly illuminating a line on the original.

  • Patent number: 4060482
Abstract: Fractions of different densities contained in an ore or other solid material are separated by directing the solid material in a liquid suspension on to a surface of an endless belt, moving in the direction of its length and inclined transversely to its direction of motion, along a first part of the length of a higher portion of the belt and subjecting said moving surface of the belt to a shaking motion so that lighter fractions are separated from the material and flow off a lower side edge of the belt into a receptacle. Washing liquid is directed on to the moving surface from another part of the length of the higher portion of the belt that is downstream of the first part so that washing liquid flows transversely across the shaking, moving surface to separate middling fractions from the material and carry them off the lower side edge of the belt into a second receptacle.
