  • Publication number: 20160116645
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical coating structure (10) applied to the surface of an object. “Scattering structures” are introduced to the basal, upper or middle layers of a multilayer reflector to cause a particular (calculated) degree of scattering, or to the surface of a black/color pigmented object to cause either enhanced transmission at the environment-object interface or omni-directional (as opposed to directional) reflections of which only a narrow portion can be observed. The scattering structures are mainly sub-micron in size, and arranged in a pseudo-random or non-periodic manner so as to prevent significant diffraction by themselves.

  • Publication number: 20150368407
Abstract: A nested capsule having a first capsule held within a second capsule. Each of the first and second capsules has a shell that is a supramolecular cross-linked network, such as a cucurbituril supramolecular cross-linked network. Each capsule shell is obtained or is obtainable from the complexation of a composition including a host, such as cucurbituril, and one or more building blocks having suitable guest functionality for the host, thereby to form a supramolecular cross-linked network. The nested capsules are suitable for delivering and selectively releasing an encapsulant at a location.

  • Publication number: 20150330634
Abstract: A system and method for improving the cooling to a portion of a combustion liner of a gas turbine combustor is disclosed. The combustion liner is cooled by supplying air through a plurality of cooling holes arranged in axially spaced rows in an upper and lower portion of the liner. The cooling holes are spaced accordingly so as to direct additional cooling flow to an area of the combustion liner not receiving sufficient flow due to maldistributions of air from the compressor discharge.

  • Patent number: 9140582
Abstract: An interferometer apparatus for an optical fiber system and method of use is described. The interferometer comprises an optical coupler and optical fibers which define first and second optical paths. Light propagating in the first and second optical paths is reflected back to the optical coupler to generate an interference signal. First, second and third interference signal components are directed towards respective first, second and third photodetectors. The third photodetector is connected to the coupler via a non-reciprocal optical device and is configured to measure the intensity of the third interference signal component directed back towards the input fiber. Methods of use in applications to monitoring acoustic perturbations and a calibration method are described.

  • Publication number: 20150247751
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments include an apparatus for imaging a volume of material contained inside a vessel. The apparatus includes a plurality of synchronized acoustic sensors positioned at a periphery of an inner volume of the vessel. A processor combines the outputs of the acoustic sensors to identify at least one ambient noise source of the industrial process generating a noise field that illuminates an internal volume of the vessel and to provide an image of the material by temporal and spatial coherent processing of the transmission and reflection of the noise field generated by the noise source.

Abstract: According to a first embodiment, the valve assembly comprises a first arm having a first valve portion and a second arm having a second valve portion. The valve assembly is foldable from an unfolded state to a folded state, such that the first valve portion engages with the second valve portion. According to a second embodiment, the valve assembly comprises a liquid inlet, a liquid outlet, a conduit, a blocking member, and a flexible member arranged to seal against the blocking member. The conduit comprises at least one bend and is arranged such that fluid may flow from the liquid inlet, past the bend and through the liquid outlet to at least indirectly impinge the flexible member.

  • Publication number: 20140108531
Abstract: The sharing of video content published online is tracked enabling the generation of a share tracking report. A first client shares video content using a first identifier that associates the first client to the video content and sharing statistics are updated. A second client accesses the video content via the first identifier and is associated with a second identifier that can used to share the video content by the second client. The second identifier is also associated with the first identifier to create a chain of discovery. A subsequent client accesses the video content via the second identifier and the sharing statistics associated with the second identifier are updated, thus continuing to add to the chain of discovery. A report is generated comprising sharing information, which includes one or more of a chain of discovery and at least one sharing statistic.
