  • Patent number: 6299420
Abstract: An air pump is a dual action manually driven with a piston and two intake and two exhaust check values that respectively operate with one intake port and one exhaust port. These check valves operate in tandem with each other during each pumping stroke, either up or down. During each pumping stroke, one intake check valve and one exhaust check valve are open with their counterparts closed, to provide continuous discharge of compressed air through the exhaust port and also to provide continuous intake of air through the intake port. The air pump includes a cylindrically shaped hollow reservoir housing, a base connected to one end of the housing, an intake port and an exhaust or inflate port which are mounted on the base, an elongated piston shaft extending along the longitudinal axis of the housing, and a handle perpendicularly disposed with respect to the piston shaft to assist pumping of the piston shaft.

  • Patent number: 6296459
Abstract: An electric air pump having multiple impellers parallel mounted on the same motor shaft and typically employed for providing a source of low pressure, high volume air for charging inflatable devices. The multiple impellers provide improved motor efficiency in heat dissipation and air volume delivery when compared to a single impeller motor operating at the same RPM, and exhibits a near zero True Indicator Reading (TIR). In its most fundamental embodiment, the electric air pump having multiple impellers exhibits a construction including an outer housing having an air intake port and an air exhaust port. An electric motor is mounted within the outer housing and includes a rotating output shaft. A plurality of air impellers each parallel mounted on the rotating output shaft is employed for drawing a volume of air through the air intake port and across the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 6287095
Abstract: An internal air pump for charging inflatables with air and method therefore is disclosed which is directed to an air pump mounted internal to an inflatable device for injecting air therein. The inventive air pump is a thin-walled, lightweight, highly elastic, flexible plastic construction which is easily packaged within the inflatable device and can be used to inflate the device to a desired air pressure. In its most fundamental embodiment, the internal air pump comprises a construction including an outer shell layer having a continuous sidewall, a roof layer and a floor layer for defining an enclosed inner pump chamber. An inner sandwich layer is positioned adjacent to the outer shell layer and includes a resilient component. At least one air intake valve is mounted within the roof layer for admitting air into the inner pump chamber. One or more exhaust ducts are mounted in the outer shell layer for discharging air from the inner pump chamber to an inflatable device.

  • Patent number: 6257550
Abstract: A drain valve adapter is for use with a hose and a drain valve mounted to a container, wherein the drain valve of the container defines a passageway for aqueous solution. The drain valve adapter comprises a tubular body having a mating member and a plunger member which are in fluid communication with each other, the plunger member being configured to be disposed inside the drain valve along the passageway. The drain valve further comprises a ring cap defining a through hole and being disposed in surrounding relation to the tubular body for releasably engaging the drain valve. The plunger member has at least one prong extending therefrom to force open a drain plug blocking the passageway of the drain valve. Preferably, the plunger member has a plurality of prongs extending therefrom. The plurality of prongs define spaces therebetween to allow free flow of the aqueous solution in the container. The mating member has a threaded outer surface for engaging with a female coupler of a standard garden hose.

  • Patent number: 6164314
Abstract: An oversized air valve for use with inflatable devices typically in an above-the-ground swimming pool or an inflatable mattress is disclosed. In its most fundamental embodiment, the oversized air valve for use with inflatable devices includes a construction having an outer housing and a base flange connected to the outer housing for being secured to an inflatable device. A cylindrical passageway is formed through the outer housing for carrying pressurized air. A cap attached to the cylindrical passageway enables the air valve to be sealed against air leakage. Finally, a removable rigid member is insertable into the cylindrical passageway for preventing deformation to the air valve. The removable rigid member is force-fitted into the cylindrical passageway and is of a length sufficient to displace a back pressure flap hinged to the bottom of the cylindrical passageway.

  • Patent number: 5813946
Abstract: An inflatable jumping toy typically employed in a play area by children performing jumping exercises is disclosed. The inflatable jumping toy comprises a construction incorporating a large torodial-shaped tube utilized as a base element and a vertical retainer wall mounted upon the top of the torodial-shaped tube. The retainer wall functions to absorb the lateral impact of a child against the jumping toy and to prevent a child from falling out of or being accidentally ejected from the jumping toy. A multi-layer bouncing mattress which is surrounded by and in communication with the torodial-shaped tube serves as a cushioned floor to absorb the vertical impact of the children during the jumping exercises. In a preferred embodiment, the multi-layer bouncing mattress includes an upper floor layer having an I-beam construction for providing maximum impact absorption of the vertical forces associated with jumping.
