The top wall has a plurality of spaced holes of predetermined diameter each configured to hold a tip extending partially through the hole with a lower end of the tip spaced above a support surface. A cover plate is releasably secured between the handle portions at a location spaced above the top wall after loading the holes with tips, and holds the tips in the holes while at least a major portion of the device is submerged in a bath of disinfectant.

In one exemplary embodiment, the present invention provides for manufacturing a glass fretboard, manufacturing glass frets, assembling the glass frets to the fretboard, and assembling the fretboard to the neck of the stringed instrument. In addition to the fretboard and frets, other components of the stringed instrument may also be made from glass. For example, the present invention further provides a method for manufacturing glass saddles and top nuts to allow the strings of the stringed instrument to substantially entirely contact glass. This produces a clean, crisp sound and overcomes the problem of generating an inferior sound that results from the imperfections found in natural wood components, for example.

Abstract: An apparatus for heat treating the surface of a body includes at least one infrared lamp carried on a stand. A circuit is provided for controlling the energization of the lamp. The circuit includes a parameter input mechanism for permitting an operator to input at least one operating parameter to the circuit. The circuit also includes a proportional control software responsive to a temperature of the body being heat treated and responsive to a parameter inputted by the input mechanism.
