  • Publication number: 20030205306
Abstract: An elastomeric tire for mounting onto a rim that is manufactured by casting or molding methods to include an interior arch shaped cavity that is centered under the tire tread to have at least one hundred forty (140) degrees and not more than one hundred seventy (170) degrees of arc, and with the cavity arch duplicated around the tire exterior, below the tire tread. A uniform tire wall thickness is provided that is selected for a particular anticipated load as the tire will carry, with the tire side wall ends maintained at the rim aligned ends, supporting the load carried by the tire in compression, and with the tire, at atmospheric pressure, providing ride and wear characteristics that are comparable to a pressurized pneumatic tire carrying a like load, and which tire of the invention interior arch shaped cavity can be pressurized to add to its inherent load supporting character to safely support even greater loads.

  • Patent number: 6561058
Abstract: A cushioning hand grip formed from a polymer material having a vio-elastic character whereby the grip will exhibit nearly perfect (less than two (2) percent of an applied force only is not cushioned) recovery or compression set, provides, even when wet, a tacky surface that will adhere to an operators hand closed therearound and, additionally, provides a non-slip adherence to a handle bar end whereover the grip is fitted. The grip is formed as a cylinder that may include a liner, such as a nylon sleeve, wherearound the grip is formed, and preferably includes an end cap arranged for locking into a handle bar end, maintaining the grip fitted onto that handle bar. • Patent number: 6347839
Abstract: A composite bicycle tire rim constructed from layers or plys of a fiber reinforcement, preferably fiber glass, to provide a rim that has a weight that is comparable to an aluminum rim and as is strong as a steel rim. The composite rim is continuous, is formed as a hooked bead type rim to have inwardly pointing side wall hook ends that are for fitting into grooves formed in a tire side walls, mounting the tire thereto. The rim is formed on a circular mandrel by laying up groups of plys thereon, with four (4) plys of fiber glass laid up for each group. In which laying up, a first ply of the four plys is fitted onto the mandrel to where its fiber angle is parallel to the mold mandrel circumference, with a following ply laid thereon at a selected positive angle to a vertical axis, and a next ply is laid thereon at a negative angle to the vertical axis, and with a final ply of each group laid thereon to have its fibers perpendicular to a tangent to the mold circumference.

  • Patent number: 6165397
Abstract: A method of manufacture for producing a molded article from a polyurethane material, utilizing a spin casting apparatus, preferably a non-pneumatic tire, where a mold that is formed in sections or halves and has an inner cavity formed to have the shape of the article to be manufactured and is separable to release that article after manufacture. The mold is secured to a support plate of the apparatus that is journaled to turn axially imparting a centrifugal force into the mold. The support plate is connected to or is arranged to be connected to a motor assembly for turning, and includes a clamping arrangement for maintaining the mold halves together on the support plate. An annular trough is formed in the mold immediately adjacent to a mold interior cavity inner circumference to receive a polyurethane material liquid passed thereto, and to, in turn, pass that liquid through a trough annular opening or ports into the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 5795549
Abstract: Apparatus for remediation of particulate matter and gaseous pollutants entrained in flue gases. The flue gases, having a pre-determined moisture content, are mixed with sorbent material and forced through an induct venturi equipped with a mixing impeller. Downstream, the reaction products are removed from the gas stream and collected for use as construction material. The vented gas stream is monitored for specific pollutants and the amount of sorbent material introduced into the system can be automated in response to reading obtained. Additionally, the gas stream can pass through a bag house or cyclone wherein the bags are impregnated with materials specific to the pollutants carried in the stream.

  • Patent number: 5591412
Abstract: An electrostatic gun for electrostatically charging and injecting sorbent particles into a flue gas stream to contact, and electrostatically charge, pollution particles in that flue gas stream. The electrostatic gun is for inclusion as a component of an apparatus for the remediation of pollution particles from a flue gas stream whereafter the clean gas flow is vented to atmosphere. The electrostatic gun receives laminar flow of a selected sorbent material and charges, either positively or negatively, the surface of each sorbent particle in that flow. To provide electrostatic charging to the individual particles, the flow is directed through a straight barrel of a housing of the electrostatic gun to pass alongside a charging wand that is centered axially in the straight barrel. The charging wand is connected to receive a voltage from a high voltage power supply to produce a corona discharge wherethrough the sorbent materials pass to electrostatically charge each sorbent particle.
