  • Patent number: 6429258
Abstract: Aqueous dispersion polymerization of fluoromonomers is improved by using a combination of fluorosurfactants, one of which is a perfluoropolyether carboxylic acid or salt.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 12, 2000
Date of Patent: August 6, 2002
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company

  • Patent number: 6395848
Abstract: Aqueous dispersion polymerization of fluoromonomers is improved by using a combination of fluorosurfactants, one of which is a perfluoropolyether carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid or salt of either.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 2, 2000
Date of Patent: May 28, 2002
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Richard Alan Morgan, Clay Woodward Jones, Theodore Treat, Jeffrey A. Hrivnak
  • Patent number: 6060167
Abstract: A release coating of thermally stable essentially non-fluorocarbon polymer and low molecular weight fluorocarbon polymer is made non-chalking; i.e., not cause waxy buildup on fabrication equipment producing articles having the coating thereon, by a special polymerization process for making the fluorocarbon polymer, viz., aqueous dispersion polymerization using conventional initiator, dispersing agent, and chain transfer agent, but also having carboxylic acid, salt, ester or peroxide thereof, or alkanol or ester thereof or ketone present during the polymerization. Alternatively, the additive can be fluorosurfactant which contains carbon-hydrogen bonding and which also serves as the dispersing agent in the polymerization medium.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 1998
Date of Patent: May 9, 2000
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Richard Alan Morgan, Luc Germain Pierre Joseph D'Haenens
  • Patent number: 5919878
Abstract: Amorphous fluoropolymers contain tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoro(ethyl vinyl ether).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 1997
Date of Patent: July 6, 1999
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Paul Douglas Brothers, Richard Alan Morgan
  • Patent number: 5708131
Abstract: Tetrafluoroethylene polymer resin is isolated from aqueous dispersion by first freezing the dispersion, followed by thawing the dispersion which enables removal of the water and water soluble impurities from the resin particles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 29, 1996
Date of Patent: January 13, 1998
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
