  • Patent number: 6898996
Abstract: A flexible drive cable assembly for powered adjustable pedals includes an elongate flexible casing having a unitary connector which cooperates with an end fitting to secure the casing to the end fitting and hold the casing stationary relative to the end fitting. In one embodiment, the unitary connector and the end fitting form a snap-fit connection having both an interlock and an interference fit between the casing and the end fitting to reduce vibration. In another embodiment, the casing is heat staked to the end fitting such that casing material flows into grooves to form protrusions which interlock with the end fitting and an interference fit between the casing and the end fitting to reduce vibration. In another embodiment, the unitary connector includes an elongate portion press fit into an aperture of the end fitting and a flange engaging the end fitting adjacent the aperture.

  • Patent number: 6637712
Abstract: A seat track assembly includes a lock having a lock pin movable between locking and unlocking positions. A guide forms a cylinder supporting movement of the lock pin and first and second shear plates are located on opposite sides of the guide. A spring member resiliently biases the lock pin toward the locking position. The lock pin extends through openings in the first and second shear plates. The lock pin, the guide, and the spring member are located entirely within an interior space of a movable track. A release assembly includes a bracket secured to the movable track, a pivotable fork, and a handle pivotally attached to the bracket and operably engaging the fork so that pivotable movement of the handle pivots the fork to move the lock pin. A secondary spring member biases the release assembly toward the locking position.

  • Patent number: 6474739
Abstract: A seat includes a pivotable mount and a release member movable between a normal position wherein a locking device is in a locked position and a release position wherein the locking device is in an unlocked position. A bypass link moves the release member to the release position when a seat back pivots to a fully folded position and a movable track is in a predetermined release position so that the movable track moves to a predetermined memory position. When the movable track is in the predetermined memory position, the bypass link moves independently of the release so that the bypass link enters a bypass position, and the release member is in the normal position, when the seat back is in the fully folded position. Thus, the fully folded and locked seat can be flipped to a stowed position.

  • Patent number: 6405987
Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat back and a seat bottom and is attached to a vehicle support structure by a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly includes a first track and a second track supported for movement relative to the first track along a first longitudinal axis. The seat bottom is supported on the second track for axial movement with the second track. This allows the seat assembly to be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly by a seat occupant. The seat back can also be moved relative to the second track between an upright position and a recliner position. The seat assembly receives a seat load resulting from the seat occupant sitting in the seat with the seat back in the reclined position and/or from a forward movement of the seat occupant during a deceleration of the vehicle when the seat occupant is belted into the seat.

  • Patent number: 6354553
Abstract: A seat track assembly for an adjustable seat with positive engagement is disclosed and has a lower track assembly with at least one lower track having a plurality of spaced slots and an upper track assembly with at least one lower track. The upper track is slidable over the lower track. A latch is movable from a latching position securing the upper track with respect to the lower track to an unlatching position where the upper track is free to slide over the lower track. The latch comprises a plurality of locking pawls mounted on the upper track, with each locking pawl having a first tooth and a second tooth and each tooth has a front face and a rear face. In the latching position the first tooth of a first one of the locking pawls is received within a first slot and the second tooth of the first one of the locking pawls is received within a second slot.
