Publication number: 20220210882Abstract: An information handling system may include at least one processor and a plurality of indicator lights. The at least one processor may be configured to detect a fault condition associated with a particular information handling resource located at a particular physical location, and cause at least some of the plurality of indicator lights to be illuminated in a determined sequence based on the physical location, wherein the determined sequence is configured to cause a dynamic visual illumination that is directed toward the physical location.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2022Publication date: June 30, 2022Applicant: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Scott C. LAUFFER, Matthew Bryan GILBERT, Richard William GUZMAN, Richard Andrew CRISP, Sean P. O'DONNELL

Patent number: 11334125Abstract: An information handling system bezel provides a dynamic visual effect with layers of patterns coupled to the information handling system housing that provide a dynamic visual effect for an end user as the end user viewing angle changes. For example, an outer layer of the bezel has a first pattern, such as parallel vent lines, an inner layer of the bezel has a second pattern, such as geometric shapes, and a middle layer has both the first and second patterns aligned with the outer and inner layers to provide the dynamic visual effect based upon viewing angle through the outer layer to the inner layer, such as with a contrasting color of the first and/or second patterns at the middle layer.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2020Date of Patent: May 17, 2022Inventors: Richard Andrew Crisp, Wei-Ti Kuo, Richard William Guzman, Zackery William Bennett

Patent number: 11243582Abstract: An information handling system housing vents air at a grid of openings formed in a wall with a member extending outward from each intersection of the grid to define air channels. Each member terminates with a polished planar surface that reflects light against a flat underlying material. Variable angles of the polished planar surface relative to the plane of the wall creates a presentation of isolated reflections against the flat background that vary based upon a viewing angle of the housing wall.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2020Date of Patent: February 8, 2022Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Richard Andrew Crisp, Richard William Guzman

Patent number: 10863647Abstract: A mechanism for servicing a sled installed in a server includes a grip bar, and a four-bar linkage connected to the grip bar. The four-bar linkage has a first position that engages the sled to a chassis of the server, and a second position that disengages the sled from the chassis of the server. Movement of the grip bar moves the four-bar linkage from the first position to the second position, thus disengaging the sled from the chassis and allowing the sled to be removed from the chassis for service.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2019Date of Patent: December 8, 2020Assignee: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Eduardo Escamilla, Matthew Bryan Gilbert, Richard Andrew Crisp, Juan Manuel Gonzalez, Noman Mithani

Patent number: 10010015Abstract: An enhanced airflow chassis system includes a component chassis that defines a chassis enclosure including a chassis entrance and component slots. First component carriers are mounted to first components and positioned in each of the component slots. Each first component carrier defines first component carrier airflow apertures that direct airflow entering the chassis entrance to the first component mounted to that first component carrier. A backplane located in the chassis enclosure opposite the component slots from the chassis entrance defines backplane airflow apertures and includes a component connector located adjacent each of the component slots that is connected to the first component mounted to the component carrier positioned in that component slot.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2015Date of Patent: June 26, 2018Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Chris Everett Peterson, Bernard Strmiska, Robert Boyd Curtis, Richard Andrew Crisp

Patent number: 9872413Abstract: A multi-function handle for Information Handling System (IHS) chassis is described. In some embodiments, a chassis may include a sled configured to be installed in a rack; a drawer configured to slide in and out of the sled; and a front panel comprising a handle and a selector, the selector configured to allow a user to selectively pull from the rack using the handle: (i) the drawer without the sled, or (ii) the sled and the drawer. A method may include accessing a chassis installed in a rack, the chassis comprising: (i) a drawer configured to slide in and out of a sled; and (ii) a front panel having a handle and a selector; determining that the selector is in a first position; and pulling the handle to slide the drawer without the sled outward from the rack.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2015Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Hung-I Lin, Hana Schuster Smith, Chun Yang Tseng, Richard Andrew Crisp, Timothy Charles Dearborn, Hsiang-Yin Hung

Publication number: 20110279973Abstract: A bezel lock system for use with an information handling system including one or more components disposed in a server chassis mounted in a bay of a rack system is disclosed. The bezel lock system may include a rack ear associated with the server chassis, a slam latch, a bezel, and a rotating lock. The slam latch may be disposed at least in part within the rack ear and configured to automatically engage the rack ear with the rack system as the server chassis slides into the rack bay. The rack ear may only be disengaged from the rack system if the slam latch is released. The bezel may be configured to attach to the front of the server chassis and prevent removal of any components through the front panel of the server chassis. The rotating lock may be associated with the bezel and restrict removal of the bezel from the server chassis while in the locked position. The lock may be further configured to restrict release of the slam latch while in the locked position.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2010Publication date: November 17, 2011Applicant: DELL PRODUCTS L.P.Inventors: Kevin Daniel Terwilliger, Bradley Michael Lawrence, Richard Andrew Crisp, Timothy Uys
