  • Patent number: 5623860
Abstract: A compound miter saw with an adjustable/bypassable bevel stop is disclosed. The compound miter saw includes a turntable rotatably mounted on a supporting frame. A power driven saw blade is pivotally mounted to the turntable and moves along a predetermined path from an upper raised to a lower operational position that includes a saw blade slot in the turntable. A bevel adjusting features selectively rotates the power driven saw blade relative to the turntable. The adjustable/bypassable bevel stop includes predetermined bevel stop settings at set angles, for example, such as 0.degree. and 45.degree., as well as an over-riding feature when angles either less than or greater than the predetermined bevel stop settings are desired. The over-riding feature does not require re-adjustment of the predetermined bevel stop settings.

  • Patent number: 5063805
Abstract: An improved compound miter saw is disclosed as having a selectively rotatable turntable mounted on a supporting frame and a power driven saw blade pivotally mounted on the turntable between a lowered full cut position and a raised full retract position. The turntable is provided with a saw blade slot for receiving the power driven saw blade when lowered to its full cut position. A work supporting fence is mounted on the supporting frame and turntable and includes a pair of work engaging surfaces longitudinally aligned across the saw blade slot. The work supporting fence is constructed to provide simultaneous longitudinal and transverse movement relative to the power driven saw blade so as to maintain the work supporting fence in a predetermined relative position to the power driven saw blade as the turntable and included power driven saw blade are selectively rotated on the supporting frame to various desired miter positions.

  • Patent number: 4841823
Abstract: A blade positioner for a scroll saw is disclosed which permits adjustment of the saw blade relative to the pivoting beams or arms of the scroll saw so that the plane movement of the blade is coincident with the blade direction, particularly in the event that the ends of the arms are somewhat misaligned with respect to the plane of travel of the arms due to inaccuracies of the arm pivot bearing locations. Also disclosed is an anti-rattle spring interposed between the work table and work table support so as to minimize rattle of the work table relative to the support in all directions.

  • Patent number: 4616541
Abstract: A scroll or jigsaw of the walking beam type is disclosed in which the upper and lower beams or arms are of hollow, tubular construction so as to have sufficient rigidity to resist up and down vibrational movement, and so as to permit lateral cutting. The beams are mounted in a pair of identical die cast frame members, and the drive motor is mounted directly to the rear of the frame members. The motor is connected to the rear ends of the beams for reciprocably driving them. The frame members, together with the motor, are pivotally mounted relative to a base or table frame thereby to permit angling of the saw blade (as opposed to tilting the table) for bevel cuts.

  • Patent number: 4576072
Abstract: Sawdust collection apparatus for a motorized table saw includes a specially formed and hinged, table top saw guard and sawdust collector to which one end of a vacuum hose is connected in a manner to admit air bleeding so as to safely lower the vacuum therein when the other end of the hose is connected to a relatively strong vacuum source, a deflector element to be mounted on the swinging saw cradle below the table in the saw base for directing sawdust downwardly to a collector bag, foamed synthetic material for sealing various openings in the saw base and a conveniently removable bracket for supporting the vacuum hose above the saw table.

  • Patent number: 4491047
Abstract: A direct drive vertical powered band saw is disclosed having a frame of formed metal which carries an idler wheel and a drive wheel with an endless blade entrained around these wheels. The drive wheel is carried by and affixed to the rotor shaft of an electric motor so that the drive wheel is driven directly by the motor without any intermediate belt drive or the like. In the preferred embodiment, the drive wheel and the motor are located above the idler wheel so that sawdust falls clear of the motor. A fan driven by the motor draws air into the closure for the saw so as to cool the motor and so as to exhaust sawdust from within the saw closure in a predetermined manner.

  • Patent number: 4427042
Abstract: A dual power tool, such as a jointer/planer, is disclosed in which the cutting head of the tool is mounted on a common shaft which also serves as the rotor shaft for the tool drive motor. This dual power tool is mounted on a single stand and has a switch enabling only one tool at a time to be operated. A retrofit kit is disclosed for permitting a tool owner to convert a single power tool into a dual power tool.

  • Patent number: 4278117
Abstract: A duplicating carving machine for the home workshop of the kind in which a guiding stylus and router are movable horizontally in straight line perpendicular paths and vertically in an arcuate path. Rigid construction of the machine permits manipulation of the router from a safely remote point and includes means for mounting masters and work pieces having a wide variety of shapes and sizes so as to be conveniently accessible to the stylus and router, means for independently locking the stylus and router against horizontal movement in either direction at any point, means for locking the stylus and router in various angular positions with respect to tangency with their arcuate path of travel, and means for adjusting the spacing of the stylus and router.

  • Patent number: 4107635
Abstract: An arc welder has a transformer comprising a pair of flat aligned primary coils of aluminum strip wound on opposite parallel legs of a rectangular open frame core and a pair of aligned secondary coils of the same strip material wound on the same opposite parallel core legs in lateral spaced relationship with the primary coils, a flexible strip encircles each pair of aligned coils tightly banding them against lateral distortion, a flux shunting core encapsulated in molded plastic material is slidably movable through the core between the pairs of aligned coils, and mechanism for slidably moving and locking the shunting core in adjusted positions is operated by a single handle. One secondary coil of the pair comprises two windings, one wound over the other to provide two output ranges. In a modification, the addition of an outboard choke coil of round wire provides a third output range.
