  • Patent number: 6792401
Abstract: An Internet-based optical imaging system to gather anthropometric data for the purpose of enabling national and international commerce in the wearable goods market, including accurate measurement for selecting, fitting, and ordering eyeglasses and eyeglass frames via the Internet that includes vendor support interaction. A customer can view and orient his or her real-time image, wear a sales item on a virtual personal model, and order selected sales item via the Internet access. The customer's 2-D photoimagery/textured 3-D model and logistics data are acquired at a modeling kiosk that, for eyeglasses, includes specific vendor specification items, pupilary, bridge, and temple distances necessary for a specific customer. Internet data paths from the modeling kiosk node to vendor nodes, such as point-of-sale and manufacturers, and the customer's home computer, can-be provided.

  • Patent number: 4479784
Abstract: Visual system (37) for providing high detail, high resolution imagery anywhere a trainee is looking throughout a wide field of view. An image generation system (38) of visual system (37) accepts inputs from a helmet mounted oculometer system (30) which determines a trainee's instantaneous eye line-of-sight. The image generation system (38) provides a foveal view of high detail, high resolution imagery at the eye line-of-sight. The foveal view is projected on a screen (46) by a foveal projection system (40). The image generation system (38) further provides a peripheral view of low detail, low resolution imagery that is projected on screen (46) by a peripheral projection system (42). The foveal view is merged with the peripheral view by a merge electronics system (44).

  • Patent number: 4373805
Abstract: The disclosure describes an arrangement to measure precisely probe-to-model board distance in a simulator. A source of radiation is positioned to emit a beam toward a model board surface on which a scaled terrain model is constructed. A fixed position lens collects reflected radiation and directs it onto a sensor device which develops an electrical signal indicative of displacement of the reflected beam, which, in turn, varies directly as the distance between the probe and the model board surface. One embodiment describes an arrangement in accordance with the Scheimpflug condition whereby focus is maintained without certain for the depth of field as the probe approaches and withdraws from the surface of the model board.
