  • Publication number: 20150235307
Abstract: Disclosed is an online marketplace system that includes a marketplace platform, a database, and an analytics module. The marketplace platform includes a customer portal and a business portal, wherein the customer portal is used by a customer to submit a request for quote and the business portal is used by selected vendors to input offers or bids. Once the customer selects a vendor to fulfill a product and/or service request, the platform prompts the customer to complete a survey before confirming the purchase. The analytics module gathers the survey data as well as other relevant market data to generate a report for the vendors, whereby the vendors can use the report to assess their performance and make improvements to their businesses. The analytics module is further configured to provide market data to the customers to allow customers to make informed decisions when selecting venders to fulfill the request.

Abstract: A communication system for urgent and emergency notifications includes a commwunication device with sensors to obtain or determine user location information and/or status information following activation of the communication device. The communication device communicates over wireless and/or wired communication networks. In an urgent situation or an emergency, the communication device is activated and sends an alert to designated recipients, including the location and/or status information. The system also involves a repeated process of interrupting the recipients' communication devices to immediately notify the recipients of the urgency of the communication and to attempt to connect to the recipients. The system can also include the ability to record audio and/or video on the activating communication device and to transmit such recordings or files to designated recipients. The activated device can also send notification and connection attempts to emergency dispatchers.

  • Patent number: 8607314
Abstract: A system of the present invention uses an identity provider to provide the authentication services for multiple service providers. An identity provider communicates with one or more service providers. A user that wishes to gain access to a service provider is authenticated through the use of the identity provider. A user desiring to access a service provider is first authenticated by the identity provider. The identity provider determines if the user meets the desired class level and provides various information related to the authentication. When the user attempts to access a second service provider that is associated with the same identity provider, the second service provider accesses the identity provider and determines that the user was recently authenticated. The identity provider then transmits the relevant information regarding the authentication process to the second service provider, which can then allow or deny the user access to the second service provider.

  • Patent number: 8010562
Abstract: A method and system for facilitating the management of user identities includes an ownership component, a registration component, and a servicing component. When a user first desires to access a system using the present invention, the registration component verifies the user's ownership of the underlying account by asking a variety of questions. Thereafter, when a user desires to service his account, the user may be re-queried to determine if he is attempting to access the correct information. An authentication and access component provides the functionality to access a system of the present invention. An audit component can be configured to periodically monitor the various accounts to ensure a continued linking between users and accounts.

  • Publication number: 20090255436
Abstract: A zipline braking system and deceleration method having one load carrying cable, and at least one overhead member, where the overhead member can be extended above substantially the entire length of the load carrying member. A stopping member is attached with the cable, and a suspender is attached with the overhead member. A rope is attached with the stopping member and the suspender, such that when the stopping member and person traveling on the zipline move toward the finish end of the cable, the rope pulls counterweight against the force of gravity. A guide can apply friction to the rope at the finish end to further decelerate the speed of a person traveling on the zipline.

  • Publication number: 20090049946
Abstract: The Ricky Braking System for Zipline Riders is a new method of braking and controlling rider's speed on ziplines. The Ricky Braking System for Zipline Riders is a dual cable zipline design that utilizes pulleys and counterweights to safely bring the rider to a complete stop. Because the rider is not required to use an active braking method, such as leather gloves rubbed on the cable to provide friction, and the rider is not brought to an abrupt stop such as ziplines using stop blocks, my invention improves safety and comfort of zipline riders.

  • Publication number: 20070110886
Abstract: Confectionary image design system including a graphical user interface through which a user defines a pattern of confectionary pieces to be arranged on a substrate. A computer processor controls the graphical user interface through which the user defines the pattern, and provides instructions for arranging the confectionary pieces in the defined pattern. A container retains the confectionary pieces used to form the defined pattern. A robot receives from the computer processor the instructions for arranging the confectionary pieces, retrieves the confectionary pieces stored in the container, and arranges the pieces on the substrate in the pattern defined by the user.
