  • Publication number: 20110203433
Abstract: A cutting device for shear-cutting of fibre strands comprises at least two cutting units which are rotatably drivable about an axis of rotation and two counter cutting units which are rigidly mounted relative to a base frame. The cutting edges of the cutting units as well as the counter cutting edges of the counter cutting units are positionable relative to a common cutting plane independently of each other. The forces acting on the counter cutting edges are measured during a cutting process by means of corresponding measuring sensors, allowing the position of the counter cutting edges to be controlled by means of a control unit via electrically driven displacement devices.

  • Patent number: 7354540
Abstract: A method for manufacturing fiber-reinforced moldings in a resin mat apparatus. The manufacturing procedure is performed in a continuous manner of operation from the mixing of the components of the resin mixture to the procedure of pressing a molding. The apparatus includes a controlled-temperature, continuous thickening unit for a time-prescribed maturation process of the endless resin mat. Endless belts carry the endless resin mat in a meander or serpentine path through the continuous thickening unit, maintaining the resin mat between the belts in the thickening unit until the resin mat has matured or aged to an appropriate plasticity for an immediately following direct conversion to moldings in a heated molding press. In one preferred embodiment, there are no plastic films interposed between the belts and the resin mixture.

  • Patent number: 7353934
Abstract: A method for picking up a plastic product lying on a conveyor belt, especially a tacky plastic product, for transport and for deposit in a mold in a molding press. The plastic product is picked up by one or more resilient carrier plates setting themselves resiliently on the longitudinal margins of the conveyor belt, and slipping between the product and the belt surface. An the apparatus for the practice of the method includes transversely movable carrier plates with which the plastic product is lifted by sliding under its lateral margins and is thereby picked up.

  • Patent number: 6817851
Abstract: An apparatus for the manufacture of fiber-reinforced plastic compositions. The apparatus addresses the disadvantages of previous methods and apparatuses for the manufacture of fiber-reinforced plastic compositions using a plasticizing extruder. Some embodiments of the apparatus may increase and/or better define the fiber content in the plasticate, as well as improve performance in the production of plasticates from fiber fleeces and fiber mats. Embodiments include an apparatus with a plasticizing extruder with adapted geometry of the extruder casing and the corresponding screw elements.

  • Patent number: 6776596
Abstract: The invention is addressed to the problem of providing a method whereby a mixing of bulk material containing fibers (fiber material) and plastic granules for the plasticate extrusion of long fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) will be possible during the melting process with high production outputs and with minimized material content in the extruder system and minimized fiber damage, and to the problem of creating an apparatus with an extruder for the practice of the method, which will have an extruder housing of modified geometry as to the feed opening and the corresponding screw elements, so that the disadvantages described above are avoided.
