  • Patent number: 5355143
Abstract: A flat antenna is disclosed which consists of a substrate having applied thereto an electrically conductive elements, or patches, in a pattern and a metal layer having a slot pattern aligned with the patches, as well as a distribution network mounted on both sides thereof a layer of foamed material. The antenna further includes a reflector consisting of a metal plate. The external surface of the antenna, consisting of a glass substrate surface, can easily be cleaned. Such an antenna can be manufactured inexpensively by using glass and a foamed material. The various patch patterns can be created by screen printing or metallization. The propagation pattern may be shaped as desired the antenna constructed according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5251978
Abstract: A driving device for a vortex mixing apparatus comprises holders for holding a mixing unit of a type having at each opposite end a pumping diaphragm for imposing a pulsatile flow on a liquid passing through a primary channel in the unit. Two pistons are each arranged to cooperate with a respective one of the diaphragms and to reciprocate between a retracted position clear of the unit and an extended position in which it extends into a housing of the unit and compresses the respective diaphragm. Driving mechanisms are normally arranged to reciprocate the pistons in phase at the same frequency such that when one piston is moving from its retracted position to its extended position the other is moving from its extended position to its retracted position and vice versa. Control mechanisms are arranged, upon stopping of the driving mechanisms, to cause both pistons to adopt retracted positions so that the unit may be inserted into, and removed from the holders without interference from the pistons.

  • Patent number: 5249938
Abstract: A peristaltic pump has an occluder ring (1) and a rotor (5) with drive rollers (16,17) for squeezing a flexible pipe (11) against the ring (1). The rotor has dogs (12a,12b) for overriding a bight of the pipe to load it through a gap (10) between a cover plate (8) of the rotor and the ring (1).

  • Patent number: 5153600
Abstract: A multiple-frequency stacked microstrip patch antenna structure is disclosed which provides substantially increased isolation between the multiple radiating elements and between the multiple feed elements. In one embodiment of the present invention having two radiating elements, such isolation is afforded by disposing shielding around a portion of the feed pin connected to the upper radiating element by electrically connecting the reference surface with the lower radiating element. Additional isolation and improved response characteristics can be provided by employing a tuning network for each radiating element. Additionally, two or more sets of stacked radiating elements can be arranged in an array to provide increased gain or directivity capabilities.

  • Patent number: 4665650
Abstract: This invention is directed to a gate assembly. It is possible to open a gate and close the gate from a remote position such as being in an automotive vehicle. The gate assembly comprises a tubular support and guide, an inner rotatable guide follower in the tubular support and guide. An outer rotatable follower outside of the tubular support and guide. The outer rotatable follower and the inner rotatable guide follower are connected. A gate is connected to the outer rotatable follower. There is a means for simultaneously elevating and rotating both the inner rotatable guide follower and the outer rotatable guide follower to move the gate.

  • Patent number: 4269142
Abstract: The invention relates to an aquarium designed to simulate a television set for aesthetic reasons. The invention involves providing an aquarium assembly having a one piece frame member with a floor section and four vertical wall sections including a front wall section. All of the wall sections of the frame member have openings and transparent sheet material for covering the openings are attached to the inside of the wall sections in fluid sealing relation. Decorator panels for selected ones of the openings other than the opening of the front wall section are provided having respectively the same sizes as the selected openings and are attachable as covers for the selected openings by press fitting from the exteriors of the three vertical wall sections. The aquarium has a hood and the decorator panels have external coverings which harmonize with the external coverings of the frame member and the hood.
