  • Patent number: 8016638
Abstract: A mouth-operated game call comprising at least one sound-making diaphragm, a frame in which an edge portion of the diaphragm is received, and a housing in which the frame is received, wherein the housing is composed at least partially of a cushion or foam material in order to provide improved sealing against the roof of the mouth or denture plate and to relieve discomfort on the tongue by a tab of the call. A member is positioned between the frame and the housing and is shaped to effect a curvature of an outer surface of the housing for sealingly conforming to a contour of a user's palate or upper denture plate. The frame is folded to comprise a pair of upper and lower frame portions between which the diaphragm is received and wherein a tab on the lower frame portion is folded over onto the upper frame portion so that the tab is not in a position to irritate the user's tongue.

  • Patent number: 7287352
Abstract: A decoy for use during hunting. Two decoy portions overlap and together depict a turkey or other animal. A member is attached to a stand and is pivotally connected to at least one of the portions in a manner to effect movement of the one portion relative to the other portion between different positions such as an upright position and a feeding position for a turkey.

  • Patent number: 6942539
Abstract: An improved sound quality box call. The box call comprises a box and a paddle. The box has a pair of longitudinal walls, a sounding chamber between the walls, and a pair of longitudinally extending upper arcuate edges on the walls respectively. The paddle has a lower surface for engaging the edges for making sounds. The paddle lower surface is longitudinally arcuate and has a contour longitudinally which desirably conforms substantially to the contour longitudinally of the arcuate side wall edges, which allows increased length of contact between the paddle and box side walls whereby to produce a more realistic yelp and better sound quality in both pitch and volume.

  • Patent number: 6168493
Abstract: A box type game call wherein a striking member is attached at one end by a screw to one end wall of a box. The striking member has one or more slots for receiving the screw shank for movement of the screw shank along the slot or slots to different positions for varying the orientation of the striking member relative to the box for adjusting the sound quality. In one embodiment, a pair of slots cross each other. The striking member has a plurality of recesses along a slot for receiving the screw head whereby the striking member may be adjusted reliably to different positions by selecting the recess in which the screw head is received. In accordance with an alternative embodiment, a disc is fastened to the box so that it is rotatable, and the screw is eccentrically mounted to the disc so that striking member orientation is adjustable by rotating the disc to a different positiion.

  • Patent number: 5091996
Abstract: A face mask including a sheet of flexible material for concealing at least a portion of a hunter's face utilizes a wire secured to the sheet of material for positioning adjacent the eyes of the hunter and an elastic strap associated with the wire for securing the mask about the hunter's head. When the mask is operatively worn, at least a portion of the wire is positioned beneath and adjacent the hunter's eyes and is biased by the strap into close-fitting relationship with the skin of the hunter's face. The wire can be manually shaped along the length thereof to conform the contour of the wire to the general contours of the portions of the face across which the wire is adapted to overlie so that when the wire is biased against the wearer's face during wear of the mask, the mask is worn with relative comfort.

  • Patent number: 4764145
Abstract: A wildlife call including a hollow tube having an open sound-escape end and an opposite open mouthpiece includes a resonating membrane associated with the mouthpiece which is arranged in a planar condition and oriented at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece. For support of the membrane in such an arrangement, the mouthpiece includes a head portion which protrudes axially of the tube and opposite the sound-escape end and which defines a continuous edge that bounds a substantial portion of the opening of the mouthpiece when the mouthpiece is viewed axially and theretoward. The mouthpiece further includes an end wall covering a substantial portion of the mouthpiece opening not covered by the continuous edge, arranged generally within a radial plane of the tube, and defining a substantially free edge extending across the mouthpiece. The resonating membrane is thus arranged angularly to the plane of the end wall.
