  • Patent number: 10442431
Abstract: An intelligent dynamic speed limiting system for use with a motor vehicle is disclosed. The system may have a processor, a memory in communication with the processor, a source of map information that provides posted speed limit information for roads in a geographic region, and a speed set control. The speed set control may be configured to enable a user to select a speed increase value by which a speed of the vehicle may exceed a posted speed limit. The processor may read the speed increase value set by the user and limit the vehicle speed to that of a posted speed limit for a road that the vehicle is travelling on, plus an additional speed increment determined by the processor by using the user set speed increase value.

  • Publication number: 20070005368
Abstract: A speech recognition system (10) in a vehicle includes a microphone (16), a processing circuit (12) and a wireless transceiver (14). The microphone (16) is configured to receive a spoken command from a vehicle occupant. The processing circuit (12) is configured to determine if the speech recognition system (10) has an application configured to execute the spoken command. The processing circuit (12) is also configured to generate spoken command data based on the spoken command. The wireless transceiver circuit (14) is used to transmit the spoken command data to a remote system (28) and to receive response data from the remote system (28). The processing circuit (12) performs a function based on the response data.

  • Patent number: 6542146
Abstract: A transparent display screen can be positioned in a driver's line of sight or in front of mechanical indicators on an instrument panel. The display screen preferably has a frame or rim member along only one edge of the screen. Since the display screen is transparent and does not include a frame or rim around its perimeter, the display screen makes information available without obstructing the driver's view of the road. The single frame or rim member supports all of the row and column electrodes that are used to selectively illuminate the pixels on the display screen. The transparent display screen can be used effectively with one or more mechanical indicators positioned properly near the display screen. In one example, a single controller controls the screen, an associated filter and the mechanical indicators.

  • Patent number: 5929382
Abstract: This assembly is for attaching wire harnesses such as flat wire harnesses together. Preferably, the flat wire harnesses then are attached to a motor vehicle interior trim panel or to the vehicle's body. The assembly includes a plurality of wire harnesses, each wire harness having at least one aperture therethrough, the plurality of wire harnesses having a first surface and a second surface with the plurality sandwiched therebetween, and at least one Christmas tree retainer passing through an aperture of each wire harness in the plurality of wire harnesses, the retainer having a Christmas tree section extending beyond the first surface and a post end extending beyond the second surface with the plurality sandwiched therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5920256
Abstract: A vehicle gauge comprises a mechanical indicator moveable relative to a reconfigurable gauge display. A transparent electroluminescent display selectively provides one of a plurality of gauge displays. A mechanical indicator positioned behind the display moves relative to the gauge display based upon data from a sensor associated with the current gauge display. A selectively transmissive device positioned between the display and the indicator selectively hides the indicator from view, providing a display independent of the indicator.
