  • Patent number: 6791958
Abstract: A method of routing control information and bearer traffic in a packet network. When a wireless communication device has established a connection in a coverage area serviced by an Access Network Controller (ANC) and a Serving Node and roams into an area serviced by a new ANC and a new Serving Node, the present invention routes control information to and from the device through the anchor Serving Node (Serving Node through which the connection was established). Bearer traffic is routed to and from the device through the ANC and Serving Node serving the area in which the wireless communication device is located.

Date of Patent: September 14, 2004
    Assignee: Motorola, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5966636
Abstract: A method and apparatus in a communications system (100) for providing communications units (134) access to the communications system (100). The communications. system (100) includes a cable distribution network (106) with an base communications unit (102) and a number of downstream communications units (134) all connected to the cable distribution network (106). A plurality of channels are used to transmit data between the base communications unit (102) and the downstream communications units (134). A first set of channels are used primarily for access the communications system (100) and a second set of channels are used for transmitting data within the communications system (100) after access to the communications system (100) has been gained. The base communications unit (102) sends a first type of data transmission including an identification of access channels used for requesting access to the communications system (100).

  • Patent number: 3930859
Abstract: An improved photographic processing system and process are provided. The system includes a novel photographic recording medium comprising a layer of silver halide emulsion, a barrier layer disposed on a surface thereof, the barrier layer being soluble in aqueous alkali but insoluble in water and acidic media, and an acidic developer disposed as a layer on the outer surface of the barrier layer or mixed therewith. The developer is activatable at an alkaline pH. A novel processing web comprising a support containing an alkali and a free water source is also provided, which web is adapted for contacting the layer containing developer to initiate development of the silver halide. The developer thus is isolated from alkali and from the emulsion prior to developing. The process includes exposure of the recording medium, followed by the described contacting for development of a visible image.
