  • Patent number: 11478368
Abstract: A method for supporting a pin-type prosthetic liner includes placing the liner in an inverted state on a standoff extending from the base of a liner stand. The standoff extends to an upper end that supports the liner on the liner stand. The upper end is an open end that receives the pin of the inverted liner being supported on the liner stand.

  • Patent number: 10021836
Abstract: This invention relates to bale feeders and bale feeder drums. A lower drum and an upper drum have inter-engaging teeth which grip feed from a bale as they rotate. Lower bale feeder drum has inclined paddles and/or paddles with a tapering profile. The configuration of the paddles helps centralize bales during the feeding process, and helps to break up and stretch feed. The tapering profile of the paddles improves grip of feed by teeth on the drums.

  • Publication number: 20070181867
Abstract: A new class of phase change materials has been discovered based on compounds of: Ga; lanthanide; and chalcogenide. This includes compounds of Ga, La, and S (GLS) as well as related compounds in which there is substitution of S with O, Se and/or Te. Moreover, La can be substituted with other lanthanide series elements. It has been demonstrated that this class of materials exhibit low energy switching. For example, the GLS material can provide an optical recording medium with erasability 3-5 dB greater than the erasability of GeSbTe (GST) material which is the standard material for phase change memories.

  • Publication number: 20050181875
Abstract: An apparatus or method to allow the secure downloading of an operating system, file management system and or state machine to a Miniature Smart Card (MSC) such as a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM), Removable User Identity Module (RUIM) or Universal Integrated Chip Card (UICC) in a mobile appliance (MA), such as but not limited to a mobile phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), pager or a proprietary device. This would in turn allow an E-purse applet as well as Lottery, Wagering and Gaming applets to be downloaded to the same Miniature Smart Card (MSC) and further allow the downloading of e-cash to be used to remotely play the Lottery, Wagering or Gaming applets as well as make retail purchases.

  • Patent number: 6291402
Abstract: Some mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of high Tc superconductors such as (Ba, Y) cuprates can be substantially improved by the dispersal of an appropriate metal in the superconductive body. For instance, mixing Ag particles with superconductive powder of nominal composition Ba2YCu3O7 and processing the mixture in the conventional manner can produce superconductive bodies having Tc of about 93 K and substantially greater fracture strength and normal state electrical and thermal conductivity than otherwise identical bodies that do not contain Ag particles.

  • Patent number: 5972846
Abstract: Articles according to the invention comprise a superconductive cuprate (e.g., YBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7) body containing elongate grains measuring at least about 10 .mu.m along the long axis and having an aspect ratio of at least 10:1. Bodies according to the invention can have relatively high critical current density, as compared to analogous non-textured bodies.

  • Patent number: 4056411
Abstract: The disclosed magnetic devices, including a magnetically coupled conducting path, incorporate amorphous, low magnetostriction alloys of the general formula (Co.sub.a Fe.sub.b T.sub.c).sub.i X.sub.j, the "metallic" constituents thereof being within the parenthetical expression. T, in the formulation, is selected from among Ni, Cr, Mn, V, Ti, Mo, W, Nb, Zr, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag and Au, X being at least one "glass former" selected from among P, Si, B, C, As, Ge, Al, Ga, In, Sb, Bi and Sn. The "metallic" constituents comprise from 70-90 atomic percent of the alloy with cobalt being present in an amount of at least 70 atomic percent of the "metallic" constituents. The described material is prepared by rapid cooling from the liquid, directly to the shape needed for fabrication of the device (e.g., tape to be wound to form an inductor core).
