  • Patent number: 9439716
Abstract: An electrosurgical device that can be used to remove pedunculated tissue structures such as polyps and certain uterine fibroids includes bipolar surface electrodes and a bipolar snare. The device includes a probe having a proximal end and a distal end, bipolar surface electrodes adjacent to the distal end of the probe, and a bipolar snare extending distally from the distal end of the probe and including first and second snare electrodes. The bipolar surface electrodes are separated from each other by a gap and extend over a portion of the distal end of the probe. Providing both a bipolar snare and bipolar surface electrodes advantageously reduces thermal spread from occurring (compared to the use of a monopolar snare) when using the snare to excise the tissue. The bipolar surface electrodes can be used to coagulate the point of excision.

  • Patent number: 9350738
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for enabling users to model security resources and user access keys as resources in a template language. The template can be used to create and update a stack of resources that will provide a network-accessible service. The security resources and access keys can be referred to in the template during both stack creation process and the stack update process. The security resources can include users, groups and policies. Additionally, users can refer to access keys in the template as dynamic parameters without any need to refer to the access keys in plaintext. The system securely stores access keys within the system and allows for templates to refer to them once defined. These key references can then be passed within a template to resources that need them as well as passing them on securely to resources like server instances through the use of the user-data field.

  • Publication number: 20160132805
Abstract: A service provider system may implement an enterprise catalog service that manages software products and portfolios of software products on behalf of service provider customer organizations. Through an administrator interface of the service, a customer organization administrator may create constraints on the use of the software products, and each constraint may include one or more rules about how the products can be launched. These may include environmental constraints (specifying a region in which a product launches), restrictions on input parameter values (including the types of resource instances on which a product can be launched), quotas (controlling the number of product installations), or billing constraints. Constraints may be applied on a user-to-product arc or on a portfolio-to-product arc. Constraints may be stored as objects, and reference to those objects may be added to product or portfolio objects.

  • Patent number: 9187933
Abstract: A latching system connects a case lid with a plurality of catch cavities to a case body with a plurality of latch-clasp cavities. The latching system has a plurality of latch-clasps connected to the case body with a latch-clasp pivot. A communicating member is attached to each latch clasp with a communicating member pivot. A slide switch is mechanically coupled to the communicating member and has an open mode of operation and a closed mode of operation. Moving the slide switch to the open mode of operation moves the plurality of latch-clasps into each latch-clasp cavity which permits movement of the case lid distant the case body. Moving the slide switch to the closed mode of operation moves the plurality of latch-clasps into each catch cavity which prevents movement of the case lid distant the case body.

  • Patent number: 8660813
Abstract: Illustrative embodiments of the present invention are directed to a method and system for disaggregating climate control energy use from non-climate control energy use for a building. The method includes receiving a series of building energy use values and corresponding outdoor temperature values for a time period. Each of the energy use values and outdoor temperature values is associated with a time interval. The method further includes determining a series of temperature difference values for the time period based on a difference in temperature between a predetermined baseline temperature and each of the outdoor temperature values. A regression analysis is used to determine a climate control coefficient and a non-climate control coefficient from the energy use values and temperature difference values. The climate control coefficient and/or the non-climate control coefficient is used to determine climate control energy use and/or non-climate control energy use for the building.

  • Patent number: 8175034
Abstract: Techniques for configuring wireless communications devices are disclosed. For instance, an apparatus may include a storage medium to store one or more configuration files, and a configuration module. Each of the one or more configuration files may correspond to a network carrier. The configuration module selects one of the configuration files and to extract one or more operational parameters from it. This selected configuration file and the one or more operational parameters correspond to a designated network carrier.

  • Publication number: 20120104003
Abstract: This invention is an improvement to the shape of liquid storage tanks, in particular to unpressurized molded polymer tanks used for thermal storage in solar systems. All aspects of this invention are well suited to solar storage tanks, and individual aspects are suited to other liquid tank applications. This invention provides a formed horizontal extension at the bottom of the tank. From the top of this lower extension, a hollow vertical stub provides a reliable connection to a circulator pump. Thermal performance is enhanced by ensuring the lowest and coolest water is delivered to the array of rooftop solar collectors without entraining debris from the bottom of the tank. At the top of the tank, a similar horizontal extension is used to distribute hot water returning from the solar collectors. Flow velocity is eliminated and a curving lower edge allows return water to find the matching thermocline to avoid de-stratifying.

  • Publication number: 20120055921
Abstract: This invention is an improvement to the shape of liquid storage tanks, in particular to unpressurized molded polymer tanks used for thermal storage in solar systems. Although solar storage tanks represent the first commercial application, this invention is well suited to ambient-temperature water and chemical storage tanks as well. By using a tank with a square footprint instead of a cylindrical tank, storage capacity can be increased by more than 20%, while consuming the same floorspace. For large indoor applications, doorway access amplifies the advantages of a rectangular tank versus cylinders. This invention combines the higher volume of square and rectangular footprint tanks with the structural efficiency of cylinder tanks. The tank walls are formed by alternating vertically-stacked cylinders and rectangular prisms. The cylinders take advantage of hoop strength and also provide a place for external reinforcing bands. Edges and corners may be sharp, chamfered or filleted.

  • Patent number: 7941403
Abstract: Various Embedded File System recovery techniques are described. A mobile computing device may comprise a radio, a processor coupled to the radio, and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory may be arranged to store a file system manager module (FSMM) that when executed by the processor manages an Embedded File System (EFS). The FSMM may create a factory image of the EFS on a periodic basis, or in response to a specific event such as a power down event. The FSMM may detect an error condition for the EFS, and replace the EFS with the factory image when an error is detected. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 7640787
Abstract: Pipettes, widely used in clinical and pharmaceutical laboratories to transfer small volumes of liquid, may be subject to hidden performance degradation and operator error. Pipette performance cannot be accepted without monitoring. The present disclosure concerns a verification device for a pipette with a piston for aspirating then dispensing, using a shaft, a determined volume of liquid. This device may include: a first assembly for supplying a displaced volume measurement, comparing this measurement to a desired value and generating an indication of the difference between the measured volume and the desired value; and a second assembly, responding to the first assembly, for delivering information relating to the indication.
