  • Patent number: 5328522
Abstract: Solder powders coated with a thin layer of parylene and solder pastes containing the coated solder powders are disclosed. The coated solder powders can exhibit a high degree of resistance to oxidation and to reaction with the flux contained in the solder paste without substantially interfering with the reflow characteristics of the solder.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 2, 1993
Date of Patent: July 12, 1994
Assignee: Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology Corporation
Inventors: Michael W. Sowa, Richard D. Jenkinson

  • Patent number: 4212899
Abstract: A process for producing a colorant containing highlighted coated substrate by embossing the surface of the substrate, coating this entire surface of the embossed substrate with a radiation curable fluid coating composition containing from about 0.01 to about 15 weight percent colorant, exposing the coated substrate to ionizing or non-ionizing radiation to initiate the desired radiation cure of the coating, continuing to irradiate the substrate until the entire coating hardens, and recovering a coated substrate on which the coating follows the embossed surface and in which the recessed areas are highlighted with the colorant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 12, 1979
Date of Patent: July 15, 1980
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
Inventors: Leonard E. Hodakowski, Richard D. Jenkinson
  • Patent number: 4143013
Abstract: Tetraethylorthosilicate or tetraethoxyethylorthosilicate is employed as a low-toxicity diluent in radiation curable coating compositions containing acrylyl or methacrylyl functional oligomer. The orthosilicate compound imparts improved leveling and surface characteristics to said coating compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 22, 1978
Date of Patent: March 6, 1979
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
