  • Patent number: 4984614
Abstract: A combined saw and chipper head comprises a frustoconical body having a circular saw blade mounted on smaller face. A plurality of straight-edged knives are mounted on truncated face of body with corner of each knife positioned in a gullet between a pair of teeth.

  • Patent number: 4445021
Abstract: A heavy duty plasma spray gun for extended industrial service is disclosed. The gun includes a gas distribution member made of a material having a coefficient of expansion different from that of the parts surrounding it. The gas distribution member is forcibly urged by a resilient member such as a coiled spring against a seal so as to assure the plasma gas is introduced into the gun arc in a manner only defined by the gas distribution member. The gun has liquid cooling for the nozzle (anode) and the cathode. Double seals are provided between the coolant and the arc region and a vent is provided between the seals which provides an indication when a seal has failed. Some parts of the gun are electrically isolated from others by an intermediate member which is formed as a sandwich of two rigid metal face pieces and an insulator disposed between them. The metal face pieces provide a rigid body to attach the remaining parts in proper alignment therewith.

  • Patent number: 4063541
Abstract: Carburetor for supplying intermixed air and atomized fuel to an engine comprises an air passageway, having a throttle for passing a controllable amount of atmospheric air, and injection means configured for injecting pressurized fuel into the air passageway in a generally flat spray pattern disposed substantially normal to the air passageway. A bypass chamber is located adjacent to the air passageway, opening thereto for capturing any unimpeded fuel injected by the injection means, returning it to the fuel tank. A metering vane located in the air passageway is configured for allowing passage of substantially all of the fuel into the bypass chamber when there is no airflow in the air passageway and for intercepting a portion of the fuel when the spray pattern is deflected by airflow in the air passageway, directing it into the air passageway. The metering vane is shaped such that the deflected portion of the fuel remains in a predetermined ratio with the airflow over the full range of engine operation.

  • Patent number: 4045809
Abstract: Photographic film developing apparatus comprises a sequence of adjacent, horizontally aligned chambers communicating with each other at their top and bottom portions. Each is adapted to contain a selected film-treating fluid agent. An infeed port communicates with one terminal chamber of the sequence and a dishcarge port with the other.Magnetic carriages mounting releasable film grips are dimensioned to traverse the chambers, trailing the film behind them. The carriages are actuated by a magnetic element mounted for reciprocation adjacent the chambers and associated with a reciprocating drive. Reciprocation of the magnetic element in a vertical plane drives the carriages and the film through one chamber after the other, thereby exposing the film sequentially to the action of the treating agents contained in the respective chambers.
