  • Patent number: 9868476
Abstract: A vehicle body includes a non-metallic member, metallic disk, and metallic member. The metallic disk is rigidly affixed to the non-metallic member such that a periphery of the disk is encompassed by the non-metallic member while an outer surface of the disk remains exposed. The metallic member is secured to the non-metallic member by a spot weld extending from the metallic member, through the outer surface, and into the disk.

  • Patent number: 9815217
Abstract: Various approaches for forming holes onto a sheet-metal assembly are described. In one implementation, a sheet-metal assembly is received through a conveyor system within a manufacturing cell. Once received, the type of sheet-metal assembly is identified based on associated information. Corresponding to the identified sheet-metal assembly, a set of position coordinates corresponding to one or more points on the sheet-metal assembly are obtained. Subsequently, a work-performing apparatus may be used for forming holes onto the sheet-metal assembly, at one or more points on the sheet-metal assembly.

  • Patent number: 6139093
Abstract: A body side joint structure for an automotive vehicle has a support member extending longitudinally rearward from a front end member with a distal end secured in overlapping relationship laterally inward of a hinge pillar of an adjacent body side member. A hinge reinforcement member is attached on a laterally inner surface of the distal end of the support member and door hinge brackets are attached on an outer surface of the hinge pillar which together provide a clamping load to the joint layering of the body side and front end, thus resulting in an improved lateral load path.
