Publication number: 20030072426Abstract: A method is provided for screening telemarketing, or other potentially unwanted, calls to jurisdictions where such calls may be made from only public telephone numbers. If such call is from a private telephone number and if the called party subscribes to and has activated a telemarketing-do-not-disturb feature, an announcement is issued to the calling party stating that if the call is a not a telemarketing call, the calling party must enter a designated override digit in order to complete the call. If such override digit is dialed, the call is completed whereas if any other digit, ringing of the called party's telephone is prevented. If, on the other hand, such call is from a public number, a determination is made as to whether the called party has a caller ID feature, and if not, the announcement is issued to the calling party. If the override digit is dialed, the call is completed whereas if any other digit is dialed, ringing of the called party's telephone is prevented.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2001Publication date: April 17, 2003Inventors: Richard Davidson, Ronald McClain

Patent number: 6119858Abstract: This invention is directed to a carrying case for fishing rods and reels and related equipment. The case contains one or more portions comprising support surfaces and recessed compartments where the rods and reels are securely fastened. Interposed between the recessed compartments are storage compartments that can be utilized to store other equipment. The case is designed to afford easy accessibility to the rods as well as the storage compartments while still providing the necessary protection and ease of transportation. The fasteners for the rods and reels are situated so as to secure the rods and reels in alternately disposed positions. Because of this design, the carrying case furnishes protection for multiple rods and reels while providing extra storage compartments for additional equipment, thereby maximizing the space used by the case.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1999Date of Patent: September 19, 2000Assignee: The Fishing Locker, Inc.Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 5475741Abstract: This system is for use by a visitor to a facility that has multiple occupants, public-subscriber or other phone service, and an individual phone outlet at each occupant's part of the facility. A microphone and speaker are provided so that a visitor seeking access can speak with an occupant. A communication circuit carries signals between (1) the mike and speaker and (2) the phone service--to enable the conversation through an individual phone outlet. Manual controls, preferably including a standard phone keypad, are positioned for use by the visitor. An electronic memory holds directory information, particularly including occupant names and corresponding dial-up codes. An LCD, behind a protective window, shows the visitor the directory data. Names and other directory data can be fed into the memory remotely, preferably through either: ordinary phone connections using standard DTMF signals--with automated confirmation of input data by a voice-synthesis chip--or a modem.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1994Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Sentex Systems, Inc.Inventors: William R. Davis, Dennis W. Mowers, Richard P. Greenthal, Paul Szymanski, Ronald A. Wray, Richard A. Davidson

Patent number: 5252955Abstract: A liquid-crystal display, preferably twenty-five lines of eighty characters each, is mounted in a case. The temperature of the display medium is maintained within operating limits for the display--notwithstanding ambient temperature and humidity variations over generally normal ranges for at least the temperate zones, and even if the display unit is placed to receive direct sunlight. The unit works outdoors as well as in buildings that lack temperature control. This is accomplished preferably by circulating air from outside the case through a space between the display face and an unperforated protective polycarbonate window. Intake and exhaust plena are long and narrow enough to deter manual access to the display and thus van dalism; however, the plena are straight and sufficiently free of obstructions that the fan can be a very small, low-power, quiet unit. A temperature sensor controls the fan, and also the contrast-adjusting voltage of the display --based on data in a digital-memory "look up" table.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1991Date of Patent: October 12, 1993Inventors: William R. Davis, Dennis W. Mowers, Richard P. Greenthal, Paul Szymanski, Ronald A. Wray, Richard A. Davidson

Patent number: 4215366Abstract: A method and apparatus for encoding and decoding of standard television signals are provided for enabling reception thereof in an intelligible manner only by authorized subscribers. The scrambling of the video signals is effected by inversion of the video signals of some horizontal scan lines on a pseudo-random basis to produce a picture having some video signals inverted and others not inverted which is unpleasant to view and virtually unintelligible. The scrambling of the audio signals is effected by conversion of analog audio signals to coded digital audio signals. A plurality of unique pulse coded control signals consisting of 32-bit binary pulse trains are transmitted separately to identify individual authorized subscribers and to provide information needed to unscramble the scrambled video and audio signals.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1979Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Assignee: Feature Film ServicesInventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4116586Abstract: A housing contains a slidable spool operable to port a first pressurized fluid line to a fluid motor, and a housing reservoir has a float movable with a fluid level. The motor drives a pump which "pumps down" the reservoir. A second pressurized fluid line is directed through a primary fixed orifice and against one end of the spool, acting against a spring bias, and is permitted to exit through an end orifice to the reservoir. The float moves in response to the fluid level and operates to shut off the end orifice flow, thereby building up backpressure to shift the spool, and thus varying outlet flow from the valve in accordance with the reservoir level. Therefore, the reservoir is pumped down in accordance with reservoir build-up.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1977Date of Patent: September 26, 1978Assignee: Cincinnati Milacron Inc.Inventors: Richard Davidson Forney, Richard Samuel Hernandez, Richard Anderson Curless

Patent number: 4076997Abstract: A monostable multivibrator circuit is disclosed which uses a feedback diode to couple the output signal of the monostable back to one terminal of the timing capacitor and thereby maintain the voltage at this capacitor terminal at a constant level for a duration equal to the pulse duration of the monostable output. A transistorized internal combustion engine ignition system is illustrated which incorporates the diode feedback monostable circuit. A trigger input signal actuates a first transistor switch which creates an abrupt negative transition that is coupled across a timing capacitor and results in turning off a second transistor for a predetermined amount of time. A third transistor monitors and inverts the output of the second transistor and produces an output signal at its collector. This inverted output signal forms the output of the monostable multivibrator and this signal is fed back to one terminal of the timing capacitor by a feedback diode.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1976Date of Patent: February 28, 1978Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventor: John Richard Davidson
