  • Patent number: 11716236
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for transmitting OFDM signals through a communication channel exhibiting frequency selective fading, such as an aeronautical 2-ray channel, using a signal modulation scheme at the transmitter that is selected based on a measurement of signal to distortion ratio (SDR) at the receiver. The SDR measurement at the receiver is used to generate an estimated best modulation scheme based on the real-time detection and measurement of SDR at the receiver, and provide feedback to the transmitter through a feedback channel of the newly selected modulation scheme. In certain configurations, the selected modulation scheme is one of multiple possible quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes, which enables adaptation of the transmitted OFDM signal to optimize throughput based on distortion of individual tones of the OFDM signal received at the receiver.

  • Patent number: 11642029
Abstract: Generally, abnormal pressures in the sinus cavity can have physiological effects due to stimulation or injury of various nerves that are in proximity to the sinus, including increased or decreased pressure on the nerves as well as extrusion of the nerves into the sinus cavities due to bony dehiscence. Methods and devices for alleviating disorders associated with the sinus cavities are described. Embodiments herein include diagnosing these disorders by occluding or restricting the sinus ostium and assessing the physiological effects caused by the occlusion/restriction and treating these disorders by navigating/directing a dilating device to the sinus ostium and dilating the sinus ostium. Other embodiments are directed to devices for maintaining the ostial opening.

  • Patent number: 11614491
Abstract: System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to improving the cycling of batteries by using data and a hierarchical Bayesian model (HBM) for predicting the cycle life of a cycling protocol. In one embodiment, a method includes classifying cycle life of a battery into a class using battery data from cycling with a protocol, wherein the class represents cycle life distributions of cycling protocols. The method also includes quantifying, using the class in a HBM, variability for the battery induced by the protocol. The method also includes predicting, using the HBM, an adjusted cycle life for the protocol according to the variability. The method also includes communicating the adjusted cycle life to operate the battery.

  • Patent number: 11595434
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems that apply a multi-layer Hidden Markov Model (HMM) for intrusion detection. The methods and systems employ a dimension reduction technique to extract only important features from network packet data and apply a decomposition algorithm to lower levels of data to construct lower level HMMs (representing partial solutions), which lower level HMMs are then combined to form a final, global solution. The multi-layer approach can be expanded beyond the exemplary case of 2 layers in order to capture multi-phase attacks over longer spans of time. A pyramid of HMMs can resolve disparate digital events and signatures across protocols and platforms to actionable information where lower layers identify discrete events (such as network scan) and higher layers identify new states which are the result of multi-phase events of the lower layers.

  • Patent number: 11468624
Abstract: In example embodiments, techniques are provided for integrating pieces of heavy equipment into a virtual construction modeling workflow by including representations of the pieces of the heavy equipment in a 3D environment of a virtual construction model, evaluating capabilities and clashes in the context of the 3D environment, and adding descriptions of the pieces of heavy equipment and operational details to work packages. Each piece of heavy equipment is associated with a unique ID, an effective range (e.g., lifting radius) and other parameters. Using a client the user links the piece of heavy equipment to one or more work packages by associating its unique ID with the work package. The work package is associated with a physical extent in the virtual construction model which falls within the effective range of the equipment. Operational details (e.g., scheduling, cost, usage rates, maintenance, etc.) are defined in connection with the work package.
