  • Publication number: 20040112286
Abstract: Material is incrementally deposited using material directed toward a deposition zone. The scan path of the directed material is controlled according to a path plan derived to minimise or reduce derivation from an ideal uniform temperature profile for the deposit during the deposition process. A path plan having an angled scan passes intersecting or over-crossing (for example in a mirrorbox path plan) is preferred.

  • Publication number: 20040020624
Abstract: A system for incrementally depositing material includes a delivery system for directing a material toward a deposition zone (5), a monitoring system for monitoring a parameter of the deposited (a) material and a processing system (11) arranged to obtain a monitored value for the parameter, derive a predicted future parameter value for the monitored parameter, compare the predicted value with a reference parameter value for the monitored parameter, and produce a control output based on the comparison of the predicted value with the reference value, the control output being capable of modifying operation of the system. The parameter monitored has the tendency to vary over time (and space), and the processing means ensure that control output is not based upon the difference between an originally monitored parameter value and a reference value but rather between a prediction generated value (accouting for passage of time or spacital difference) and the reference value.

  • Publication number: 20040004141
Abstract: An automatic two-speed transmission for a fishing reel comprises a spool mounted on a spool shaft, a drive sleeve mounted on a drive shaft disposed parallel to the spool shaft. A low gear driver nonrotatably mounted on the drive shaft engages the low gear when the low gear rotates at a speed less than the drive shaft, the low gear driver disengaging from the low gear when the low gear rotates at a speed greater than the drive shaft. The low gear drives a low pinion gear that turns the spool. A high gear is disposed on the drive sleeve between clutch washers, the clutch washers providing frictional resistance against the high gear in order to engage the high gear, which in turn engages a high pinion gear that turns the spool. A tension preset device selectably adjusts the drive sleeve and the drive shaft axially relative to each other, squeezing the high gear between the clutch washers.

  • Patent number: 6438977
Abstract: An air conditioner cooling apparatus which is designed to be used in conjunction with a cabinet type air conditioner that has an air exhaust portal which has an exhaust airflow, path and a length of condenser coils. The cooling apparatus comprises a paddle which is to be placed within the exhaust airflow path and upon operation of the air conditioner, the paddle is to be pivoted from a crosswise position relative to the airflow path to an inclined position relative to the airflow path. The pivoting of the paddle connects by a linkage assembly to a control arm with this control arm to be raised from a lower position to an upper position when the air conditioner is activated. The control arm connects to a water supply valve which is opened when the air conditioner is turned on with water to be caused to flow through the valve to a series of discharge nozzles with this water to be dispensed onto the condenser coils of the air conditioner.

  • Patent number: 6315904
Abstract: A process for treating sulphate-containing waste water comprises introducing a feedstock comprising sulphate-containing waste water, into a pond. The sulphate-containing waste water is subjected to biological sulphate reduction in the pond, thereby to convert dissolved sulphate anions to dissolved sulphide anions. Treated waste water, containing the dissolved sulphide anions, is withdrawn from the pond.

  • Patent number: 6203700
Abstract: A process for treating metal-containing acid water comprises adding an alkaline aqueous component to metal-containing acid water, thereby to raise the pH of the acid water and to cause metals therein to precipitate. The precipitated metals are separated from the water in a separation stage. The water is then passed to a biological alkalinity generating stage wherein the alkalinity of the water is increased biologically. The alkaline aqueous component, which is added to the metal-containing acid water, is withdrawn from the alkalinity generating stage. Treated water is also withdrawn from the alkalinity generating stage.

  • Patent number: 4483130
Abstract: A two row harvester running gear is of a tricycle type with all wheels being hydraulically driven and with a center rear wheel that is steerable and smaller than the two front wheels. The running gear configuration provides sharper turns in muddy fields without bulldozing, and space for side mounting pilers adjacent the front wheels and inboard of them to minimize the number and degree of changes of direction in cut cane travel. Closed loop and parallel connections of an hydraulic power system rotates all wheels for a common linear speed, and at torques relative to the size and positioning thereof for maximum traction.
