  • Patent number: 7818867
Abstract: A hole saw having efficient slug removal preferably includes a saw cup, a shank portion and a pilot cutting device. A cutting surface is formed on an open end of the saw cup. The inside surface, outside surface and cutting surface of the saw cup are given a low friction treatment. A fluoropolymer resin coating is used for the low friction treatment. The friction treatment is applied by spraying thereof on the saw cup. The saw cup is then heated to a predetermined temperature for a set period of time. The low friction treatment is cured when the saw cup is used. The shank portion is attached to a closed end of the saw cup with any suitable fastening process. The shank portion preferably retains the pilot cutting device.

  • Patent number: 7674078
Abstract: A hole saw having efficient slug removal includes a saw cup, a shank portion, a spade bit, a compression spring and a contact disc. A plurality of cutting teeth are formed on an open end of the saw cup and the shank portion is attached to the other end of the saw cup with any suitable fastening process. The spade bit includes a cutting bit and a shank. A shank opening is formed through the shank portion to receive the shank of the spade bit. Preferably, a set screw or the like is used to retain the spade bit in the shank opening. The shank of the spade bit is inserted through the contact disc and then the compression spring, before insertion into the shank opening. A hole slug is ejected from the saw cup, when the hole saw is removed from a hole.

An inside surface of the saw cup is given a low friction treatment and preferably an outside surface thereof. The shank portion is retained on a closed end of the saw cup. The pilot cutting device is preferably a drill, but other cutting devices may also be used. A second embodiment of a hole saw having efficient slug removal preferably includes a saw cup, a shank portion and a pilot cutting device. The saw cup includes a prior art saw cup, at least two side openings and a cutting surface. The at least two side openings are formed through the prior art saw cup to remove a substantial portion of a side wall.

  • Patent number: 6729034
Abstract: A perimeter router guide preferably includes a guide area and a support leg. The support leg extends from a bottom of the guide area. A retention opening is formed adjacent the guide area to facilitate attachment of a work surface with a fastener. A circular router guide includes a pivot plate and a guide tube. The guide tube extend from a collet end of a router tool. The pivot plate preferabbly includes a plate with a plurality of bosses extending from a face of the plate. A pilot hole is formed through each boss. The pilot hole is sized to receive the guide tube. The plate is pivotally attached to a surface to be cut. The guide tube is inserted into one of the pilot holes and revolved relative to the pivot point of the pivot plate.

  • Publication number: 20040042861
Abstract: A hole saw having peripheral cutting capability includes a saw cup, a shank portion, and a location drill. A plurality of cutting teeth are formed on a bottom (open end) of the saw cup and the shank portion is attached to a top of the saw cup with any suitable fastening process. An opening is formed through the shank to receive the location drill. Peripheral cutting teeth are formed on an outside circumference of the saw cup, at a top thereof. The peripheral cutting teeth may be hobbed, cast, or pressure formed into the saw cup. The peripheral cutting teeth may also be a separate structure that is fastened to the saw cup with any suitable attachment method. An abrasive cutting surface may also be formed on the saw cup.

  • Patent number: 6599063
Abstract: A hole saw having efficient slug removal includes a saw cup, a shank portion, and a location drill. A plurality of cutting teeth are formed on an open end of the saw cup and the shank portion is attached to the other end of the saw cup. The location drill is retained in the shank portion. At least two inward cutting teeth are formed on an inside surface of the saw cup. The at least two inward cutting teeth may be two existing cutting teeth bent/formed inward, or at least two inward cutting teeth formed on an inside surface of the saw cup. The location drill is preferably modified such that the cutting diameter has a short length and the remainder of the length is relieved. A compression spring may be added to the hole saw to eject a slug.
