  • Patent number: 8773330
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing a mission. Information for a mission is received at a control station. The control station comprises a display system, a motion capture system, a number of user input devices, a seat associated with the number of user input devices, and a processor unit. The display system is configured to be worn on the head of an operator and to present a display to the operator. The motion capture system is configured to track movement of the head. The processor unit is configured to execute program code to generate the display and adjust the display presented to the operator in response to detecting movement of the head of the operator. The mission is performed using the information and the control station.

  • Patent number: 6724305
Abstract: There is provided a receptacle system for detecting at least one metallic object entering therein and alerting a user in response to the detection. The system of the preferred embodiment comprises a receptacle body forming an interior cavity. Moreover, a cover may be engaged to the receptacle body, in which the cover may define an opening for providing access to the interior cavity. A metal detector may be attached to the cover to detect the at least one metallic object entering through the opening of the cover. Thereafter, the metal detector may alert the user in response to the detection of the at least one metallic object.

  • Patent number: 6129213
Abstract: A trash container lid facilitates easy disposal of food scraps while inhibiting inadvertent disposal of tableware. The trash container lid includes a cover configured to cover at least a portion of an opening in a trash container. A chute is formed in the cover and is configured to receive food scraps and to direct the food scraps into the trash container. At least one magnet is disposed proximate the chute to catch tableware inadvertently introduced thereinto. A scraper blade is formed to the cover proximate the chute such that food scraps scraped from plates and the like with the scraper fall through the chute and into the trash container.

  • Patent number: 5797497
Abstract: A device for trapping flatware in food waste prior to entry into a trash container includes a housing positioned onto the trash container having a downwardly sloping chute, an electronic metal detector disposed in the housing, and a mechanically-operated pivoting door that guards the lower opening of the chute. A spring-loaded mechanical linkage closes the door upon being released by an actuator, that is signaled by the metal detector as to when flatware is present. The use of a spring-loaded mechanism to operate the pivoting door minimizes power requirements and is lightweight, as compared to a drive motor or other machines of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 5137200
Abstract: A portable ultrasonic welding device for performing ultrasonic welding upon large, awkward, or odd-shaped workpieces is disclosed. The portable ultrasonic welding device comprises a housing inside of which are disposed a transducer, a horn, an interchangeable anvil, and an air actuator. The air actuator urges the anvil toward the cone to capture the workpiece. Due to its compact size and portability, the portable ultrasonic welding device may be hand held in positions and orientations which provide welds that could not be obtained with prior art devices. This flexibility in positioning and orientation also helps eliminate weld voids by assuring maximum contact of the anvil with the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4824042
Abstract: An apparatus for securely holding tubes or cones for use in the tufting industry includes first and second support sections which are formed at an acute angle with respect to each other for engaging the inside of a tube or cone. The support sections are in the preferred embodiment formed from resilient wire elements which deflect under pressure that is applied from the inside of the tube or cone, thereby assuring a secure fit. The wire elements forming the second support element further flare outwardly to conform to the shape of a cone. An additional advantageous feature is the provision of a pair of wire loops at a distal end of the second support element to prevent a tube or cone from sliding thereover. The main feature which provides support for the package is the wire portion which connects the loops. This wire portion gives the holder its rigidity when it contacts the creel rod by restraining vertical and horizontal movement of the package.

  • Patent number: 4782970
Abstract: A lid fits to the top of a standard 32 gallon garbage container to magnetically intercept tableware out of food trash being entered into the container. The lid presents a "U"-shaped channel or chute, extending toward an aperture sized to permit the food trash to enter into the trash container. Magnets are mounted on the interior of an opposite pair of sidewalls of the aperture to be isolated from direct contact with the food trash. Food trash is deposited upon the chute and then scraped toward the aperture with minimum vertical velocity. While free-falling through the aperture, tableware is attracted and segregated out of food trash and held flat to one of the two opposed sidewalls mounting the magnets.
