The headstock includes saddle receiving recesses which are positioned proximate openings which extend through a first surface of the headstock toward a second surface of the headstock. Saddles are positioned in the saddle receiving recesses. The saddles extend past the first surface in a direction away from the second surface, wherein the saddles and saddle receiving recesses cooperate with strings of the stringed instrument to direct the path of the strings.
