  • Patent number: 4211430
Abstract: A passive three-point lap and shoulder belt system has lap and shoulder belt retractors mounted on the lower rear corner of the door. The shoulder belt is slidable through an anchor loop mounted on the upper rear corner of the door. The inboard ends of the lap and shoulder belts are joined together at the juncture which is connected to a control belt mounted inboard the seat by an inboard retractor. The winding effort of the shoulder belt retractor is greater than the winding effort of both the lap belt retractor and the inboard retractor to locate the juncture of the lap and shoulder belts adjacent the anchor loop so that the lap belt is stowed vertically along the door and the control belt extends diagonally between the inboard retractor and the juncture of the lap and shoulder belts.

  • Patent number: 4133578
Abstract: A vehicle seat back support and, more particularly, a seat back support with provision for selective adjustment of the angular position between the seat cushion and the seat back. A seat cushion mounting member has a toothed sector in its upper, rearward edge portion. Below the toothed sector, a rotatable support shaft is mounted which includes an eccentric portion on which a seat back mounting member is pivotally mounted. The seat back mounting member includes a toothed portion adapted to engage or mesh with the toothed sector of the seat cushion mounting member. An actuation lever is attached to the rotatable support shaft to move the eccentric portion upward by rotation of the shaft. Resultantly, the seat back mounting member is moved upward and its toothed portion is disengaged from the toothed sector, thereafter permitting the seat back to be angularly adjusted with respect to the seat cushion.

  • Patent number: 4129320
Abstract: A seat belt securing device includes a C-shaped hook member which has upper and lower legs spaced apart to define a belt receiving slot having a forwardly facing open end. A pivot is provided between the lower leg and a vehicle body mounted bracket to permit pivotal movement of the hook member between an open belt receiving position, a forwardly pivoted belt capturing position and a rearwardly pivoted belt releasing position. A spring acts between the bracket and the hook member and goes overcenter between a compressed condition biasing the hook member to a belt capturing position and a relaxed condition maintaining the hook member in the open belt receiving position. The spring is yieldable from the relaxed condition to a tensioned condition upon rearward pivotal movement of the hook member from the open position to the belt releasing position.
