    Abstract: An electrically conductive sorption and in situ regeneration system and method for separating species of different adsorption characteristics in a fluid includes flowing a contaminated fluid through an electrically conductive sorbent bed having a multiplicity of adsorption sites, and providing an electric current through the sorbent bed to heat the bed to increase the adsorption sites available for adsorption by the bed of the more strongly adsorbed specie by inhibiting adsorption by the bed of the less strongly adsorbed specie which might occupy adsorption sites in the bed.

    Abstract: A system for indoor pollution control that purifies ambient air in a room. The air-purification components can be housed, for example, in an item of ordinary furniture such as a chair. This allows large components capable of high purification rates to be used, but without the large space requirements hitherto normally required with previously known high-rate systems. In addition, the air flow is directed so that a localized spatial zone can be preferentially purified without the need for physical enclosures. The system can be used to prevent dispersion of harmful substances such as pathogens or tobacco smoke that originate from a source, and can also create a microenvironment of purified air.

    Abstract: A technique for recovering natural gas from geopressured brines contained in a first aquifer in which the brine is conveyed from the high pressure geopressured aquifer to an underground chamber at lower pressure at a location remote from the geopressured aquifer, the lower pressure within the chamber causing the gas to be released from the brine after entry into the chamber. The released gas is conveyed from the chamber to a suitable gas outlet for use while the brine within the chamber by virtue of its pressure is conveyed to a second upper level discharge aquifer at a location remote from the chamber.
