  • Patent number: 7126486
Abstract: An automated device monitors moisture content in exterior sheathing of a building for detecting moisture intrusion into the sheathing walls. A plurality of moisture sensors are embedded in selected exterior walls of the building behind the cladding and are adapted to provide signals representative of the moisture content in the walls at each of the selected locations. A control unit is operatively connected with each of the plurality of moisture sensors for generating an alarm signal when at least one of the signals representative of the moisture content in the plurality of walls is indicative of a moisture content in excess of a predetermined threshold value.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 30, 2002
Date of Patent: October 24, 2006
    Assignee: Dryvit Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Richard E. Kroll, Todd E. Watson

  • Patent number: 5564243
Abstract: A wall of a building includes cladding having a plurality of interconnecting air pressure and moisture vent channels. The cladding prevents formation of an air pressure differential between the outside atmosphere and the inside atmosphere of a building or the atmosphere in a cavity of the cladding, which reduces moisture ingress. Preferably, cladding having fire retardant panels is further provided in the wall.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 1994
Date of Patent: October 15, 1996
Inventors: Richard E. Kroll, Vincent Tamburrini, Frederick M. Hansen
