  • Patent number: 5902684
Abstract: A multilayer, thermoplastic stretch wrap film containing at least four polymeric film layers and comprised of a first outer cling layer, a second outer cling layer, at least one inner polymeric layer and at least one core layer. The first and second layers have a cling force to s each other of at least about 140 grams/inch. The stretch wrap film has at least one inner polymeric layer, located between the first and second layers. The inner polymeric layer comprises a low polydispersity polymer. The low polydispersity polymer has a polydispersity of from about 1 to about 4, a melt index (I.sub.2) of from about 0.5 to about 10 g/10 min., and a melt flow ratio (I.sub.20 /I.sub.2) of from about 12 to about 22. The core layer, also located between the outer cling layers, comprises either a random copolymer of propylene and ethylene, a heterophasic copolymer of propylene with domains of ethylene interspersed, a polypropylene homopolymer, or blends thereof.

  • Patent number: 5799793
Abstract: A system for suspending a pack of thermoplastic bags, loading bags, removing loaded bags and for automatically opening the next bag preparatory to loading it by having a pack of handled bags suspended from laterally spaced elongated rods of a rack. The bags have been corona discharge treated to such an extent that the application of pressure will cause adjacently facing regions to releasably adhere together until a moderate force separates them. During removal of a bag front the bag pack at least a portion of the front wall of the next bag will follow the bag being removed for a short distance before separation thereby opening said next bag rendering it ready for loading. An improved means for applying the requisite pressure is disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 5669504
Abstract: The invention relates to a bag closure for a thermoplastic grocery bag. Integral closure tabs are formed in the bag front and rear walls at the bag mouth. After the bag has been loaded, the front wall closure tab is pulled across the bag open mouth towards the rear of the bag. The rear wall closure tab is then pulled in the opposite direction across the bag mouth towards the front of the bag to engage an adhesive zone positioned on the exterior surface of the front wall. The adhesive zone is made up of a low tack, high-shear adhesive and is positioned just below the bag mouth. The adhesive zone resists shear forces generated while the bag is closed but releases easily when the rear closure tab is pulled in a direction normal to the bag wall.

  • Patent number: 5630779
Abstract: A system for suspending a pack of thermoplastic bags, loading bags, removing loaded bags and for automatically opening the next bag preparatory to loading it by having a pack of handled bags suspended from laterally spaced elongated rods of a rack. A novel gradually releasably adherent bond is created between the rear wall of a leading bag and the front wall of a following bag in the bag pack. As the leading bag is removed from a bag rack, the bond will gradually and fully open the mouth and body of the following bag for loading.

  • Patent number: 5568979
Abstract: A grocery bag or the like having a closure member which securely closes the mouth of the bag so as to prevent items contained therein from falling out when the bag is tipped over. Closure is accomplished by a thin flexible strap attached to the front wall of the bag just below the bag mouth defining an opening between the strap and bag wall. The user may close the bag by inserting the hand through the opening defined by the strap and the bag front wall, grasping the bag handles and pulling the handles through the opening.
