  • Patent number: 5552500
Abstract: The invention relates to fluorotelomers, their synthesis by free radical-initiated telomerization of fluoroalkenes (e.g. TFE) in which hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC's) are used both as telogens and as solvents, and dispersions of the fluorotelomers in HCFC's. The fluorotelomers are normally solid, essentially non-distillable and highly crystalline, and their dispersions exhibit excellent lubricant properties and stability under normal usage and have a negligible impact on the environment compared to conventional telomer dispersions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 1995
Date of Patent: September 3, 1996
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
    Inventor: Richard E. Peavy
