  • Patent number: 5351580
Abstract: An electrically heated thermal wire stripping hand tool device is provided which uses electrically heated ceramic blades or jaws having severing edges to remove insulation from electrical wire. The tool includes a pair of arms hingedly connected which removably mount stripping jaws thereon at their distal ends. Each jaw has an insulation severing edge which when heated will melt or otherwise degrade the insulation on the wire when it coacts with the severing edge on the mating jaw. Electrically heated wires and circuitry are provided which heat the severing edges of the jaw. Contacts are provided which removably secure each jaw to one of the arms to provide electrical power thereto. The jaws and contacts are also provided with alignment devices which coact with each other when the jaws are mounted on the arms to provide alignment in both the x and y axes of the plane on which the jaws mate for severing insulation.

  • Patent number: 5174177
Abstract: A hand tool including a pair of levers each including a handle portion, a jaw portion and a boss portion interconnecting the handle and jaw portions, with the levers being pivotally interconnected for normally permanently intended but relatively movable relationship. The lever sections are pivotally interconnected together along the boss portions for manipulation between internal and external tool operating positions. Movement between the internal and external positions is provided by a rotatable eccentric knob. The knob carries a spring biased lock for securing the levers in a selected one of its operating positions.

  • Patent number: 5131127
Abstract: A tool for removing a split washer, such as a brake lever "C" clamp, from a groove in a projection, such as would be found on a brake lever pivot is provided. The tool includes a first lever member; a second lever member pivotally interconnected to the first lever member at a pivotal axis; a gripping component manipulatable by the first lever member; and a cooperating component manipulatable by the second lever member. The distal end of the gripping component and the distal end of the cooperating component are located an equal distance from the pivotal axis to facilitate the gripping component to grip a portion of the washer. The cooperating component may be viewed as a wedge component as it is shaped to progressively increase the distance between the washer legs in correlation to the position of the first lever member relative to the second lever member until the inner geometery of the washer is sufficient to remove the washer from the projection.

  • Patent number: 5123289
Abstract: A hand tool, having at least one handle which will provide a tactile response at a predetermined adjustable torque value is provided. The handle includes first and second sections telescopingly and pivotally interconnected. Detent means, including a roller journalled on one section and an axial bore in the other section in which the roller normally resides is provided. The roller and other section are translationally movable with respect to each other. The roller is configured in the form of a segment of a sphere and biased into the end of the bore. The other section also includes means to allow but limit pivotal movement of the roller out of the bore such that it will provide a tactile response at a given torque level and return into the bore when torque is released.

  • Patent number: 4932291
Abstract: A tool for removing insulation from electrical wire is provided. The tool includes a set of intersecting arms from which extend blade support members. A pair of replaceable ceramic blades having imbedded resistance heater elements are mounted on the blade support members. The blades are movable toward and away from each other upon application of pressure on the set of intersecting arms to effectuate contact between the blades and the insulation.

  • Patent number: 4811441
Abstract: A tool for cutting a hose to length and for inserting a fitting into the end of a hose is provided. The tool includes a base which mounts a slide member for reciprocal movement therealong. The slide mounts a knife and a fitting member die, and is actuated by a handle connected by a linkage thereto. The base includes a notch to support a hose for cutting by the blade, and a support and bar engaging cam to retain the hose is positioned to have a fitting inserted therein.
