  • Patent number: 8533161
Abstract: A content platform (or “cluster”) that comprises a redundant array of independent nodes is logically partitioned. Using a web-based interface, an administrator defines one or more “tenants” within the cluster, wherein a tenant has a set of attributes: namespaces, administrative accounts, data access accounts, and a permission mask. A namespace is a logical partition of the cluster that serves as a collection of objects typically associated with at least one defined application. Each namespace has a private file system with respect to other namespaces. This approach enables a user to segregate cluster data into logical partitions. Using the administrative interface, a namespace associated with a given tenant is selectively configured without affecting a configuration of at least one other namespace in the set of namespaces. One configuration option is a “disposition service” that, once enabled for a namespace, automatically deletes objects that were once under retention and whose retention time has expired.

  • Patent number: 5214271
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sensing the presence of a document moved to a printing station in a printer and for detecting skewness (if any) of the document at the printing station. A first light-detector pair and a second light-detector pair are used, with the sensitivity of each of the detectors in the light-detector pairs being adjusted each time the printer is turned on. A controller and a stored program are used to adjust the sensitivity of the detector along with a resistor network providing steps of resistance. The particular resistance step to which a detector is adjusted also gives a measure of the useful life left for the detector.

  • Patent number: 4170308
Abstract: A hydraulic function disconnect means is interposed between an operator's control lever and a spring centered hydraulic control valve for a hydraulic motor actuator. The means is operable when the hydraulically actuated element approaches a limit position to prevent any operation of the valve by the lever which would move the element toward the limit position while permitting operation of the valve which results in movement of the element away from the limit position. A solenoid operated detent is used to control the ability of the disconnect means to transmit movements of the lever to the valve. The hydraulic function disconnect means forms part of the linkage in a two blocking prevention device used on boom-type material handling equipment such as a cable equipped crane in which the hydraulically actuated element comprises the movable hook and the cable is drawn in or paid out by a hydraulic motor actuator.
