Patent number: 8638900Abstract: An alignment plate that is attached to a core barrel of a pressurized water reactor and fits within slots within a top plate of a lower core shroud and upper core plate to maintain lateral alignment of the reactor internals. The alignment plate is connected to the core barrel through two vertically-spaced dowel pins that extend from the outside surface of the core barrel through a reinforcement pad and into corresponding holes in the alignment plate. Additionally, threaded fasteners are inserted around the perimeter of the reinforcement pad and into the alignment plate to further secure the alignment plate to the core barrel. A fillet weld also is deposited around the perimeter of the reinforcement pad. To accommodate thermal growth between the alignment plate and the core barrel, a gap is left above, below and at both sides of one of the dowel pins in the alignment plate holes through which the dowel pins pass.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2007Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Company LLCInventors: David A. Publication number: 20100000801Abstract: A weighing scale adapted to automatically present one or more recipes to a user thereof, and a method of presenting such recipes. The recipes are preferably, but not necessarily, related in some way to a product being weighed or otherwise examined by the weighing scale. A recipe software application selects one or more recipes from a database of recipes and presents the recipes on one or more display devices of the weighing scale. One or more of the presented recipes may be selected by a user for delivery in one or more forms. Recipes may be delivered to a user according to the present invention, by one or more of providing the user with a printout of the selected recipe(s), by emailing the selected recipe(s) to a user, and/or by providing the user with a website URL from which the selected recipe(s) can be downloaded.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2008Publication date: January 7, 2010Applicant: METTLER-TOLEDO, INC.Inventors: Richard E. Patent number: 5761958Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a fault detection system for a dynamometer includes circuitry for measuring the armature voltage of the dynamometer. The voltage can used as an indicator of dynamometer speed to prevent reverse rotation of the dynamometer and to prevent overspeed operation of the dynamometer.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1996Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark Anthony Tascillo, Pravinchandra Popatal Chokshi, James Edward Snider, Richard E. Patent number: 5720824Abstract: A method is provided for removing metal oxide debris from various types of surfaces, both metallic and nonmetallic. Specifically, the surface to be cleaned is treated (preferably by immersion) with a preheated solution of 65 to 71 wt % (55.3 to 62.0 vol %) nitric acid, which is roughly equivalent to reagent grade nitric acid. The temperature of the solution is within the range of about 160.degree. to 175.degree. F. (71.degree. to 79.degree. C.). The preheated solution dissolves any metal oxide debris present on the surface, which may then be rinsed away following treatment. The method effects the removal of metal oxide residue from surfaces without further degrading the surfaces being cleaned. Further, the method is capable of cleaning internal surfaces of components without requiring disassembly of sealed or welded components, since all that is needed to effect cleaning is contact between the surface to be cleaned and the preheated solution.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1996Date of Patent: February 24, 1998Assignee: Hughes ElectronicsInventors: David Bronson, Don K. Fulkerson, Richard E. Smith

Patent number: 5447303Abstract: An inverter for turning a sheet over and reversing the lead and trail edges of the sheet includes a disc stacker that works in conjunction with a vacuum transport. A sheet transported from a source is captured lead edge first by fingers or in a slot of the disc stacker which is rotating in a first direction. A vacuum transport is positioned adjacent the disc stacker and draws the sheet away from the disc stacker at a predetermined point and transports the sheet in a second direction opposite to the first direction trail edge first for further processing.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1994Date of Patent: September 5, 1995Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Richard E. Patent number: 5357660Abstract: A new and improved sock pairing apparatus includes a pair of similar sock clamp assemblies which include similar indicia. Each respective sock clamp assembly is used with one sock of a pair of socks. Each respective sock clamp assembly includes a pair of first and second clamping elements for clamping the respective sock clamp assembly onto a respective sock of the pair of socks. Each respective first clamping element is placed on a respective sock against a first side of a sock wall. Each respective second clamping element is placed against a second side of the respective sock wall in registration with the respective first clamping element and clamped thereto. In this way, a portion of the sock wall is permanently clamped between the respective first clamping element and the respective second clamping element. The first clamping element may be a rigid member that includes a locking assembly for locking the second clamping element thereto.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1993Date of Patent: October 25, 1994Inventor: Richard E. Patent number: 5313259Abstract: A multicolor imaging device capable of operating at higher than normal speeds when a full range of colors is not required. The imaging device includes four station groups each having a charge scorotron, a light source for exposing a photoconductive belt to a color signal, and a toner developer. When a color of a particular station is not required, the light source for that station is disabled and the charge scorotron of that station is enabled to allow a higher charging rate for the required colors, thereby allowing the belt to be propelled at a higher speed.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1992Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Richard E.
