Abstract: A raisable legrest for a wheelchair, the legrest comprising: a frame, to support a user's lower leg, the frame being attachable to the wheelchair, the frame being movable between a lowered position and a raised position about a pivot point when attached to the wheelchair; and a pivot point position adjustor, located between the pivot point and the wheelchair, for adjusting the position of the pivot point in at least a vertical direction; wherein the pivot point can be positioned by the pivot point position adjustor to be coaxial with an approximate center of rotation of a knee of the user.

Abstract: A kit for adding a reclining seat to a wheelchair, comprising a stationary seat frame for mounting to a base frame of the wheelchair, a seat for mounting to the stationary seat frame, the seat having a seat portion and a back portion pivotally mounted to said seat portion, and an actuator mounted on the seat for causing the back portion of said seat to change angle relative to said stationary seat frame, a sliding connector for slidably mounting said seat portion to said stationary seat frame, and means for sliding said seat on said stationary seat frame along said sliding connector without changing height as the actuator causes the angle of the back portion to change, wherein said kit, when mounted on a wheelchair, compensates for a change in an occupant's center of gravity by sliding said seat portion on said stationary seat frame as said back portion changes angle.

Abstract: The present assembly relates to a link assembly for a chair. The assembly includes a frame link for connecting to a frame of the chair and a back support link for connecting to a back support of the chair. The frame link and the back support link are pivotably connected in order to facilitate displacement of the back support according to movement of a back frame of the chair. An adjustable pivot point is located on one of the links for selectively adjusting the extent of displacement of the back support relative to the back frame.

Abstract: The present assembly relates to a wheel chair having a base frame, a seat frame and a back frame, and a control device for rotating the back frame relative to the seat frame. The back frame includes a back support to receive a trunk portion of a user, the back support being displaceable by another control device relative to the back frame. A control unit communicates with the control devices for rotating and for displacing, the control unit being adjustable to vary the displacement of the back support according to the rotation of the back frame to minimize shear forces between the user's trunk and the back support.
