  • Patent number: 8307764
Abstract: A printing assembly includes a cylindrical sleeve having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface defines a first channel and the outer surface defines a port fluidly connected to the first channel. The inner surface is configured for lateral movement along a nonporous surface in response to a first flow of pressurized air being directed into the first channel from the port. The inner surface is also configured to fixedly mate with the nonporous surface in response to removal of the flow.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 2009
Date of Patent: November 13, 2012
    Assignee: Luminite Products Corporation

  • Patent number: 5515781
Abstract: A printing sleeve including a nickel sleeve having an inner surface and an outer surface and opposite end portions and opposite ends, and hard rubber rims bonded to the outer surface at the end portions and having rim portions extending beyond the opposite ends of the nickel sleeve and bonded thereto, and inner surfaces on the rim portions which are substantially in line with the inner surface of the nickel sleeve. A method of bonding a hard rubber rim onto each end of a nickel printing sleeve comprising the steps of applying an adhesive to each end and end portion of the sleeve, inserting a plug into each end of the sleeve, winding an unvulcanized rubber strip around each end portion of the sleeve and onto the play, and heating each rubber strip to cause it to cure and bond to the end portion of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5036766
Abstract: A printing cylinder comprising a hollow polyurethane cylinder having a plurality of ribs extending radially inwardly from its internal surface. A modified printing cylinder wherein the radially extending ribs are embedded in metal rings at opposite ends thereof. A printing cylinder mounting construction including a shaft, a pair of spaced hubs on the shaft, a hollow printing cylinder having a plurality of inwardly radially extending ribs, enlarged slots in one of the hubs which permits the ribs to pass over that hub, facing tapered surfaces on the hubs, mating tapered surfaces at the ends of the ribs, a rotary adjustment on the hub having the enlarged slots therein for permitting that hub to be rotated to place the inclined surfaces on the ribs and the inclined surfaces on that hub into contiguous relationship, and a screw adjustment for axially moving that hub to wedge the ribs onto the inclined surfaces of the spaced hubs.
