  • Patent number: 6468678
Abstract: Magnetic, conformable articles for use with traffic bearing surfaces are disclosed which comprise an organic binder having magnetic particles distributed therein. The articles may be employed in intelligent vehicle guidance systems, and in systems to guide other mobile objects such as farm animals, pets, or visually impaired pedestrians. Methods of making the articles and methods of using the systems to control and/or guide a mobile object using the magnetic field generated from the articles are also described.

  • Patent number: 4508916
Abstract: A class of substituted urethane acrylates and methacrylates having an aliphatic backbone is provided, the members of the class having at least one ether or polyether group with at least one pendent fluorinated organic group attached thereto. The novel compositions may be radiation polymerized, e.g., by electron beam, actinic light or heat, to a light transmissive material which is well suited to optical application, such as coupling optical fibers and light emitting diodes so as to transmit light therebetween.

Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company
Inventors: Richard G. Newell, Stephen F. Wolf
  • Patent number: 4503161
Abstract: Microcapsules with liquid fills containing Lewis acid catalysts, catalyst concentrates comprising slurries of the microcapsules in liquid media, and a method for preparing the microcapsules and concentrates. The catalyst concentrates of the present invention are storage stable both alone and when incorporated in a one-part epoxy formulation.
