  • Patent number: 5832013
Abstract: An intracavity modulated pulsed laser and methods of using the same. In one preferred form, an intracavity modulated pulsed laser comprises an amplification medium, a pulsed pumping source, a beam modulator, and two mirrors, one totally reflective and one partially reflective for generating at least one laser output burst comprising a plurality of sub-pulses having variably controllable peak powers. In another preferred form, a non-linear crystal is utilized to double the frequency of each laser output burst. In still another preferred form, a fluorescence feedback control circuit is utilized to control the beam modulator.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 1996
Date of Patent: November 3, 1998
    Assignee: American Dental Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Michael J. Yessik, Richard G. Thompson

  • Patent number: 5018152
Abstract: A switched cavity laser system which includes a resonant cavity, a gain medium within the resonant cavity, a cavity switch and an output coupler. A controllable pump energy source delivers pump energy to the gain medium in response to an energy control signal. A detector is coupled with the gain medium and generates a detector signal in response to the amount of population inversion exhibited by the gain medium. A control circuit is coupled to the detector and controllable pump energy source for generating the energy control signal in response to the detector signal. As the switching rate of the Q-switch is varied, the energy control signal varies to ensure a constant level of population inversion between each pulse. In this matter, a prespecified pulse energy is achieved for each pulse independent of the switching rate of the Q-switch.

  • Patent number: 4149728
Abstract: A poker game includes a roulette wheel mounted on a table top. The table top has a played card distribution area and a rack extending therefrom at an angle therewith for supporting a plurality of playing cards. Each card played is indicated in the played card distribution area. A wagering area on the table top indicates cards and poker hands for wagers concerning the operation of the roulette wheel.

  • Patent number: 4096919
Abstract: A cleated roller enclosing an internal combustion engine is provided with two handles containing means for engaging the posterior of a skier. The engine is mounted within the roller on a frame which in turn is mounted to both of the roller hubs which are hollow. The roller hubs are connected to the handles. The engine's output shaft is operatively connected to both end walls of the roller so as to rotate the roller relative to the roller hubs. The roller hubs are in direct fluid communication with the atmosphere outside the roller so as to permit efficient cooling of the engine by a forced airflow through the hubs and the roller.
