  • Publication number: 20060250216
Abstract: A portable electronic data acquisition and transmission system for use with a plurality of wireless transmitters and universal operators used with selected residential barrier operators includes a data monitor having a monitor controller connected to a monitor receiver, a display, a monitor memory unit, a monitor communications port, and an input interface. The data monitor is able to learn and store a plurality of transmitter identification codes associated with one or more wireless transmitters. Once the identification codes are stored in the data monitor, the identification codes can be manipulated and transferred to one or more universal operators, thus enabling the specific transmitters having the associated identification codes to control the universal operator.

  • Publication number: 20060174801
Abstract: Paper coating formulations having a reduced level of binder and processes for their manufacture are disclosed. Specifically, the paper coating formulations comprise a paper coating pigment and a binder. The binder comprises a strongly associated adhesive material that can bind to the other components, such as pigments, that is less prone to depletion from paper coating formulations into a paper web during use.

  • Publication number: 20060041493
Abstract: A method for a bank to obtain an electronically-stored financial document is disclosed. The financial document includes a specific document parameter, such as a record date. The bank maintains the financial document in an off-site storage system when the record date is later than a pre-selected date and in an on-site storage system when the record date is earlier than or equal to the pre-selected date. The off-site storage system is remotely-located from the on-site storage system. The bank receives a request for the financial document from a client and compares the record date to the pre-selected date to determine if the record date is later than, earlier than, or equal to the pre-selected date. In processing the request, the bank utilizes a computer terminal connected to the off-site and on-site storage systems to access one of the storage systems in response to the comparison of the record date to the pre-selected date.

  • Publication number: 20050184854
Abstract: An operating system for a motorized barrier includes an operator for controlling movement of the barrier between various positions. The operator may receive wireless signals from a wireless or wired wall station transmitter, a wireless keyless entry device and/or a portable remote transmitter device. The system also includes a device such as a light kit or switch that controls a load, wherein the device is capable of also receiving wireless signals to control the kit or the load. And the transmitters are capable of generating wireless signals receivable by the operator and the device for independent operation of each.

  • Publication number: 20030093983
Abstract: A lawn mower having an engine shaft for rotatably driving a set of cutting blades, and also adapted to selectively drive a built-in. The edging unit being selectively engaged to said engine shaft by a clutch type mechanism. A means for adjusting the relative height between a front caster-type wheel and the lawn mower frame. A handle extending from the lawn mower frame that is pivotally attached to allow pivotal rotation relative to the frame about two substantially perpendicular rotational axis and a selective locking means for releasably locking the handle in a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 4755678
Abstract: A system for detecting simultaneously the moisture content and basis weight of paper is disclosed utilizing a submillimeter laser source of radiation of two different wavelengths which is subsequently scanned across the face of the paper. A plurality of detectors placed on the side of the paper opposite the laser supplies the transmittance information for each of the wavelengths to a microcomputer which in turn calculates the moisture content and the basis weight of the material. The two different wavelengths of submillimeter radiation are produced by either a pair of submillimeter lasers pumped by a continuous wave CO.sub.2 laser or by a single submillimeter laser pumped by a waveguide type continuous wave CO.sub.2 laser whose output is controlled by a piezoelectric crystal tuned resonator in order to provide the required two separate wavelengths alternating in time which are output in the single beam of the submillimeter laser.

  • Patent number: 4654529
Abstract: A method and a device for measuring the fibre orientation anisotropy in a fibrous structure such as a sheet of paper or a textile. According to this method, a linearly polarized, far infrared laser beam is directed towards one side of the fibrous structure whose fibre orientation anisotropy is to be measured. The incident energy of the laser beam is measured before this beam traverses the fibrous structure, and its transmitted energy is measured on the other side of the fibrous structure. The transmission coefficient T of the laser beam is determined in at least two different orientations of the polarization plane of the beam with respect to the fibrous structure, this coefficient T being the ratio of the transmitted-to-incident energies. This coefficient T varies exponentially with the basis weight of the fibrous structure and the ratio .alpha.

  • Patent number: 4529071
Abstract: A ratcheting tool has a handle mounted on a ratchet housing. The ratchet housing has a blind axial bore formed therein. A driven shank has a rearward portion nested partially in the bore, and a ratchet is formed externally on the rearward portion of the shank. A cam is seated in the bore, rearwardly of the ratchet, and is pivotable substantially about the axis of the bore. The cam has a bore formed therein, and a thrust ball is seated in the cam bore axially between the bottom of the blind axial bore in the ratchet housing and the rearward portion of the shank, thereby accommodating axial thrust loads on the tool. A selector pin is carried by the cam and extends radially therefrom through an arcuate slot in the ratchet housing. A pair of L-shaped pawls are alternately actuated by the cam. The pawls have respective leg portions extending forwardly to engage the ratchet, thereby alternately keying the ratchet to the ratchet housing.
